Does anyone know if the Dish Network Hopper is compatible with the TracStar antenna?

NO!

To work properly the Hopper needs a dish with 3 LNBs
You can possibly make it limp along with a dome, but you get frequent errors and little or no help from dish once they find out you have only one LNB, even though it can be tasked to point at all three sats.
I installed two Hoppers in my RV with a motosat DishProPlus with two LNBs and had constant problems until I started using the tripod dish, problem solved.
You can get very knowledgeable advice from the Hopper forum at Satelliteguys.com.

Thanks Bob

I use a VIP 211k receiver now with my Trac Star (single LNB) and it switches to the 3 Sats as need when changing channels on the receiver. Don't know if the Hopper will do that. Also, is the Hopper DVR a hard drive or solid state?

The Hopper has a two terabyte hard drive.
The hopper requires the switch built into the 3 LNB Dish ProPlus.
You may be able to make it work otherwise, I did but there were constant recurring problems that went away with the proper Dish 1002.
Dish will also tell you they have no way to authorize a Hopper in an RV.
I had to go through the customer retention department and it took 3 reps there to find one who figured a solution.
