Flats on TOAD

I have now had my second punctured tire on my TOAD. Both times I caught the problem before the tire went flat. The first time I had a screw in my front driver's side tire. The second a small braid/nail of some sort in the front passenger side tire. The tire repair shop has surmised that my coach kicks up an object which then embeds itself in the front tire of my TOAD. I am always checking pressures and thus avoided a major problem, but. My coach has it's mud flap in place. Does anyone out there know if anything can be done to minimize the risk of picking up nails etc in the tires on one's TOAD. Thanks for any insights on this issue.

Does your mudflap drag to much on the ground? I had a coach here the other day that just normal driving down the road the flap would constantly drag and was kicking more off the ground then protecting anything.

In the 16 years we have had motor homes we have never had a flat tire on our 4 different toads. I will say we picked up a piece of 1/4 ply that jammed between the pan and the bottom of the transmission on our Saturn L300 station wagon. I am always very careful to replace tires at 3 year intervals because of the extra stress towing places on the front tires when following the coach on winging roads and due to extreme turns we make with the tag up. I learned a long time ago when a teenager that you must have ample tread on your tires to reduce the possibility of random punctures. Having said that my last puncture was by a screw at the edge where the side wall meets the sharp radius of the tread and happened during a period when the toad was not being pulled.
