Radiator Corrosion Physics

We had our copper Radiator Core was replaced on our '01 Intrigue last winter.
The Bend, Oregon Tech who did the work said one cause that accelerated the corrosion problem was that the Radiator was NOT grounded at the factory when it was new. Interesting, seems like the Manufacturer of the World's Best Motor Coach would have know to do that very simple procedure. Our replace unit is grounded...

My radiator is being replaced now. I saw the old radiator after is was removed on Friday. It does have the transmission cooler integrated into the engine radiator. I think this is a common practice in the industry. I don't think this is normally a problem if you have a quality non-aluminum radiator.
I ordered my new radiator directly from Country Coach.

I'm having my radiator replace also. I called CC for a quote. I waited a couple of days for them to return my phone call. I've called them before for other things, and usually do not get a call back. The Cummins shop that is doing the work for me also called them and failed to get a call back. They obviously do not want any my money.

Don't mess around with CC, get one that will last. Get it from http://www.radiatorsupplyhouse.com/ads/radsupplyflyer12-08.pdf My Aluminum Radiator was recently replaced with a STEEL & COPPER Bolt Together Radiator w/ updated rubber mountings the only way to go if you have to replace one, it was shipped to Quinn Cat in Ca. total cost around $5400.

We had ours replaced 4 years ago in MN with the radiator being sent to us at the Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport which we picked up and delivered to I-State here in MN from Radiator Specialties in CA. Please note that I'm pretty sure it was Radiator Specialties. They built the original alum one, and then they built the steel and copper replacement. After 4 years we noticed some drips coming from one of the end radiator tanks. Took the coach to I-State in Inver Grove, MN, and the really good techs there found that the radiator needed to be pulled and sent to Custom Radiator here in MN who rebuilt it. During the rebuild process they found a crack in the inner cooler for the transmission lines which they replaced and rebuilt the whole thing for a cost of $1000 to repair the radiator and inner cooler and the charges from I-State were about $2,500 to take it out and put it back in as well as replace all of the rubber hoses. Believe me, I'll be checking to see if we have a grounded radiator. Thanks to all who have discussed that important part of this all. As a note, the rubber bushings were fine from the 4 year ago replacement. I also had them pressure test the air charge cooler which was replaced four years ago, and it was fine. We were fortunate to not have any of the problems with coolant transmission oil issues. Also, while everything was out, I had them replace all of the rubber hoses, coolant hoses, and put in new thermostat in the top of the engine for the coolant system.

I sure do appreciate all of the information given here by you all who write in which has been so helpful.
