Carefree Eclipse Patio Awning

Yahoo Message Number: 89722
I had a problem with my awning and it turns out that Carefree used to make an XL version of their Eclipse Patio Awning for CC alone. They stopped making or supporting the XL 2-3 years ago. I could not get a replacement idler spring and they would not supply detailed drawings, so I was left with no option but to replace the whole awning!! Now as Kevin Waite pointed out this is a really B..d As the standard Eclipse is different in 3 ways, the arms are about 7 inches shorter which leaves exposed the original access hole through the wall for the wiring! And only one other hole from the bolts is the same. So a paint shop visit to repair and paint.
Secondly they no longer do some of the colours, in my case Pewter. Indeed they now only do black or silver! So I took the black and had the paint shop paint all the awning parts in the metallic black of the coach, but that also meant the topper shields as well had to come off and be painted as they were in pewter. I have to say it is a stunning job but I will now have to get the window awnings done as well to make the complete set. But that's for this winter.
Thirdly the fabric is 20 inches shorter going out so my new this year fabric had to go back for shortening to fit!

So be prepared!

Now THE QUESTION.

I do not have any pictures that show conclusively the old install, but the new one has about 2 inches of aluminium tube showing; i.e. the Articulated armour guard shield is too short in my opinion. Carefree say this is right. Can other tell me if they have tube showing to this extent. I have added a picture but not sure if it will come over? This is the left hand end the shield is level with the cap end on the right hand end. Carefree say centre it and show tube at each end!!!
