Allure fiberglass roof

Hello,

I am in the process of buying a 2000 ( early model) Allure 40' LaPine model. I have a question about the roof. Seems as though there is a small gap between the roof and the underlayment, like say 1/16", the fibergalss definitely "gives" under your feet. I put my hand down on it and it does give like there is a very small space between the fiberglass and whatever is under it. It isnt like the roof underlayment is soft, it is definitely solid, just seems like there is an air gap. I tried seveal places on the roof with the same results. I dont remember this on our 98 Intrigue but that was 4 years ago when we sold that. The coach has 26k miles and is in excellent shape insdie and outside.

Is this everyone's else's experience?

Bob,

You're right. On your '98 all roof layers were tied together.
Somewhere around 2000(coincidentally when National took over production) they went to a "floating roof". I was told it was a cost issue. On the otherhand I haven't heard any problems related to the new production method.

, IT'S THE SAME ON MY ROOF. I TOOK IT BACK TO CCI, IN LATE 2000, FOR WORK, ASKED ABOUT. THE ROOF, WAS TOLD IS LIKE THE SIDE OF A HOUSE, WITH WOOD RUNNING FROM FRW. TO AFT. AND. LIKE 2X4, BUT SMALLER ACROSS IT FROM ONE SIDE TO THE OTHER, SO IF YOU PUT YOUR FOOT IN ONE OF THESE SPOTS, IT WELL GIVE SOME WHAT. YOU CAN WAX YOUR ROOF(NOT SAYING TO DO THIS) BUT IF? YOU DID YOU CAN SEE ALL THE SPOTS, I AM TALKING ABOUT.IT HAS IN NO WAY GIVEN ME ANY TROUBLE,I HAVE 6 TOTAL SOLAR ON TOP. TWO TV ANT. PLUS A BIG DIRECTV, ANT.FOR INTER NET,[OVER 100 LB'S] PLUS A CB, CELL, AM&FM ANT. ONE, THING I FORGOT TO SAY, IN THE SPOTS WERE THERE IS NO WOOD THERE IS STYIOFOAM, I HOPE THIS WELL HELP, MAYBE? I was concerned about the roof too but I had already purchased my unit...I was told by techs at CC that the roof is meant to float to allow for contraction and expansion. I have had the coach for over a year now and the roof has not floated away yet...Good luck with the coach. mike 2000 Allure 30493
