We are thinking about purchasing a 2004 Inspire. My question is what known problems are applicable to this coach. Is the aluminum/steel radiator in this era also does the hydraulic pump wet spline kit applicable. Any other know area of concern that we should be aware of? Thank you

Hi Daren,

I am the proud owner of a 2004 Inspire with an early number 51012,I can say it is the most reliable unit I have ever owned ,(my 3 rd motorhome ) My radiator is steel and there is no PTO on my engine ( Cummins),I have not experienced near the problems that most of the members on this forum have had with their Inspires. The only thing that I have done is fix a couple of foggy windows and, went to the Amish cooling unit. It has the paint checking that comes with that year model but its almost 10 years old and runs like a clock..I love it.

Hi Daren,

I own a 2004 Inspire #51008 and bought it new 7/1/03. It was one of the first Inspires off the line from CC and as with all motorhomes, it has had its share of problems. I have always been able to solve the problems myself or with the help of the good people on this forum.
The very best recommendation I could make is for you to hire a certified RV tech to do a complete inspection of all coach systems. Once you are satisfied with that report, I would then take the coach to the best mechanical tech for a complete chassis inspection. The owner should be more than happy to direct you to the shop where he had service performed. Talk to the mechanic and look at the service records, that should give you some important information concerning the coach.
My coach came with the aluminum radiator and I have not had a problem with it as of this date. My coach has more than 50,000 miles. To determine if the coach has the hydraulic pump just look at the transmission, the pump is red and easy to identify or just ask the owner or any good mechanic.

Good luck,

Jon Gullette

Daren,

We have a 2005 Inspire with 100,000 plus miles. I have just replaced the radiator with a replacement. Very expensive total about 4,000 dollars. I also added the Hydraulic pump kit. We did not have a problem, but I read so much about the damage that can result I went ahead and added the kit, about 20,000 miles ago. The new radiator is designed to force the water thru the bottom of the radiator in a much narrower stream. The end result is Transmissionl and Engine Temp. significant decreased.
I do not know if this helps but I want to let you know what we had to do, We love our 2005 which is a duplicate of the 2004.
If you want real input contact Kevin Wait, who use to be a Country Coach Tech.

We have a 2005 Inspire. We do have the microchecking. That did not show up until we spent a winter in So. Arizona. We have had the PTO replaced, 2 computers have gone out, we do have the alminum radiator but so far no issues. replaced all of the fogged windows. The biggest problems have been numerous leaks on the slides. Some leaks are not even apparent until you take up the carpeting. Also I would push on the walls underneath all of the windows to search for rotted wood. Almost put my finger through the wall on the slide behind the drivers seat. I did not know about this forum until after we bought our Inspire. It has been a great asset. I also have replaced our refrigerator to a residential, water heater, and washer/dryer. The Splindide we just upgraded to a newer model that holds a much greater load. Maybe one other thing to look at is the 3M film on the nose. Ours is covered in small unsightful cracks and is a mother to get off. Good luck Tom

I am a new member as of today!

My husband and I just bought a 2004 Country Coach Inspire a little less than 2 weeks ago. On the NADA website we were led to some recalls after paying for a vehicle wreck search (vin # needed). We learned that there was 6 recalls on our coach. I am happy to report that after an inspection before we purchased our coach that we learned all 6 recalls had been completed.
I don't know where our list of recalls got off to, but I am sure if you called Country Coach their technicians can provide you with that information. I spoke with one of Country Coach's technicians before we bought our coach and discussed all 6 recalls. Some of them are rather critical, so be sure to check to see if the rig you are thinking of purchasing has completed the recalls.

My husband remembers a few of the recalls: Refrigerator

Side lights, front & back (originally none were installed) Rubber propane line that feeds the stove was replaced with a copper line 2 recalls of the steering gear box (hubby says this was the most critical)

Sorry we can't remember the rest.
Good luck!

I'm interested in that list of recalls on the 2004 CC Inspire. I bought one two years ago and have never seen that list. Anyone have it?

Well I went and paid my $24.95 and I guess I should consider myself lucky, do nor see anything about recalls.
