Water heater high limit switch

It appears my high limit switch which connects power from the control module to the gas solenoid valves will not be long for this world. I was hopping that it was just a poor connection through the spade terminal but when I apply pressure to the face of the switch with a flat blade screwdriver, it opens the circuit and of course shuts down the gas valves. I don't understand how the switch is mounted to the tank and I am somewhat recluctant to to go any further least I totally disable it. It still operates albeit somewhat intermittent. Compared to the fixed temp control thermostat it seems "loose" Any ideas??

Just now catching up so don't know if this was answered or not.
If I remember correctly the switches are just stuck to the side using the black adhesive rubber pad.
Last time I replace mine I think I got the Kit from Ebay that had both ECO/T-stat. They were held in by a spring and plastic disk and the entire control was just stuck on with the enclosed adhesive rubber pad. There is a different set for the 110v side. Get the model number of your tank and you can find the part.

On my Atwood 10 gal heater, the thermostat and eco are held in place by 3 metal tabs. Just bend the tabs out slightly and the eco should pop out. There is a spring between the sensing element that is in contact with the tank and the back of the eco so that a better thermal contact can be made with the water heater. There will also be 'rubber' pad that has adhesive on it that will cover the two sensors.
If your eco has kicked out the propane side of your water heater you may have to reset the eco for the electric element before you can switch over to the electric element. On my coach the thermostat and eco for the electric element are on the back side of the water heater. The eco has a small reset button that will need to be pushed in if it has tripped.
