Onan Generator oddity

I have an Onan 8000 generator in my 2006 Allure.
I have one oddity that I can't quite figure out and I don't think has been mentioned here (unless I missed it).
If the generator is running with the Cummins engine off and the Cummins is started, the generator stops within 2 or 3 seconds. It will then start right back up by manually pressing the start button. This happens no matter the fuel level.
I have searched through all the Silverleaf settings and I don't see any setting that controls this.
Is there some sort of interlock that turns it off when the chassis engine is started? Is there a safety reason for this?

It isn't a big deal, just sort of annoying from time to time.

Hi Dan,

This is usually caused by the battery voltage going below 10.5 when you engage the engine starter. You ca nprove this by connecting a set of jumper cables from your car to the generator then start your engine. If it does not cut off then you know. Then check battery condition, terminals, connections, etc. If all is good there you can add a battery for just the generator or live with it.

Our Silverleaf used to stop the generator when it thought the battery was fully charged. Our Silverleaf also does not come on until we turn on the key or use the dash switch. In our case, starting the engine (we have a CAT C13) turned on the Silverleaf which promply turned off the generator. Check yours.
