06 Intrigue Purchase Advice

Approaching final purchase stage on an 06 Intrigue Ovation 42' with C13 engine, 45k miles. Radiator is being replaced, PTO is done, no apparent paint checking. Some rust, but not sure how much is a concern. Would love advice from experts on this forum on three items: (1) what other things should I watch for on this year/model, (2) who is a good person to have inspect this coach in the Eugene, Oregon area, (3) how much rust is too much? Thanks in advance!

A bit of rust on angle iron around the perimeter
of some bays (wet, battery in particular) and the door steps that can be wire brushed and painted with Rustoleum is acceptable. If the front road side electrical bay below the driver's seat is rusted in any significant way, that is a real concern.
I would call the Caterpillar Hot Line (877 -777-3126) with your engine number (KCBXXXXX for example) to determine the C-13 service history. You'll need to re-register yourself as the new owner. Original owner should have done this. If the slack adjusters have not been checked/adjusted, they are overdue.
I strongly recommend developing a partnership with you local CAT Service Center. Also have CAT SOS tests done on the engine oil and coolant.

Get as much of this done B-4 you buy.

I will second John's suggestion. I have had work done by both. Excellent, reasonable cost. Brian for engine and chassis, Kevin for everything else. Both are located on Noraton Road, Junction City.
John, you forgot your ID sign off.

Hi Brett,

Damon is an excellent source although I don't know how involved he is anymore in the RV Biz and he is no longer in the Eugene area. In the Eugene area, there are several places who could inspect the coach for you, they are:

  • Oregon Motorcoach Center
  • Ron Lee's place in the old Country Coach facilities in Junction City (can't remember their biz name)
  • Carrier & Sons
Those are the ones I know of. I'm sure other members of this group could chime in with other places in the Eugene area.

Lee & John,

Thank you so much for your advice on this. I was not aware of the CAT hotline so will definitely make a call there as well and check on fluid analysis. This group has been SO helpful during the shopping process!

Add Premier RV Service in Junction City also. They are right next to Country Coach Corp. Also have a number of nice coaches on consignment.
