PT7000 starts, runs, powers, then dies after about 10 minutes

Our generator worked fine with about 4 hours per day of run time during the past week.
On the last day, it was recharging the golf cart batteries when it quietly died. It would restart and run but shortly it would die.

It will run the front rooftop AC but still dies after @ 10 minutes.

It has new coolant, good oil level, and plenty of fuel in the tank.
The flow chart for trouble shooting the generator does not seem to include this style of failure. It produces 110v juice. It starts. It runs, and so must be getting fuel. I am puzzled.

Has anyone solved this type of problem with their Powertech genset?

Usually when a diesel shuts down it's because it's not getting fuel, it's not getting air, or a sensor shuts it down. There is a temp sensor that will shut it down, check the fuel pump.

Check the fault codes. It's sounds a little like an overheating problem. Mine ran similar and I found the belts broken, frayed, and not turning the pump.

Have the Same Generator check fuel lines for cracks and do you have white smoke as engine slows down to a stop. I replaced Both rubber fuel lines with new bought them at NAPA! Tell them lines for newer diesel fuel a must! Ken Retired Cat Tech, 99 Allure 30356.

OP here.

Well after 11 years of ownership, I committed a rookie error and forgot to observe the fan. It was not turning even though the belt was wrapped nicely on the tension wheel.
After 18 years and 800 hours of service the belt had separated and the overheat sensors evidently shut the genset down. Fortunately, the sensors are now known to be good.

On goes the spare belt and all is well.
