Carpet Change Out

Yahoo Message Number: 92303
I just got through removing the carpet from my living and kitchen galley area and installing engineered hardwood flooring. It turned out great. Carpet removal & new floor installation took a total of 16 hours. I still need to make and install the transition moldings. If you have basic hand tools and reasonable DIY skills this is not a difficult job.
I can provide additional information if interested.

Hello RJ,

That sounds like a worthwhile project as our carpet ages and bunches.
How did you deal with the area by the A slide (living room) where the slide box skids across the (formerly carpet) wood flooring when you extend/retract? Doesn't it scrape it?

Do you have any photos worth sharing?

Thanks!

Lon I have a few pics. I plan to take a few more after I install the transition molding. I can't speak to the climate change question, as I just installed the flooring last week.
Jay,

I had a slight scrape just behind the drivers side. I was able to shim up the nylon bar that the roller goes up on, 1/8" did the trick. All else appears to be ok.

We looked at many wood floors but decided to go with a bamboo vinyl since we full time and have a pet. Replaced the carpet in the main living area, kitchen, and bathroom. Hardest part was getting the ceramic tile up in some spots in the kitchen. Turned out great and very easy to maintain.
