I just bought my 3rd CC. This is a '99 40' Affinity w/10,000 miles - like new but the Bose head unit mounted on top of the cabinet behind the driver's seat is dead. Obviously all of the entertainment electronics is outdated so I am once again installing flat panel LED TVs and intended to play the front TV amplified through the Bose system, cube speakers, etc. Does anyone know if this '99 Bose albatross can be repaired and where?

Another member has been of great help on this subject saying he replaced his Bose with a modern amp, tuner & blue ray. I am going to install the TVs and take it a step at a time. I want to keep & use the cube speakers it came with but suppose I could replace the sub woofer.

I am very mechanically inclined which you'd better be to own a RV (this is our 5th & 3rd CC) but electronics are way above my head.

Have you tried contacting Bose? We did and found their customer service prompt. They will be able to tell you if it can be repaired. A tech guy working on our satellite said that you can mail it to the factory. Ours is in a 2004 Allure. Keep us posted. We're doing some of the same type of things.

When we bought our 2002 Affinity 4 years ago the lights in the Bose amp were out. The seller decided to replace the unit with a rebuilt one from ebay. We have the modernistic one that is not a box. The rebuilt one has worked fine for four years. If it ever goes out again I will get a standard unit like a Yamaha. The Bose lacks many features I would like to use with an amp. Like tone controls. It is very wonky to use and very hard to figure out even after ready the manual that I have.

But that said the Bose has worked fine for what I use it for. I just plug a music player like an iPod or iPad into it. Updating the TV's and radio is the one thing that has been difficult in our coach which is likely similar to yours. We had Country Coach build us doors for the cabinets that held the TV's and made them into cabinets. Our coach came with a desk opposite the sofa. So we just set a flat screen on it when we park. We have not bothered to hook the flat screen to the Bose speakers. The Pioneer back up screen / radio is difficult to use as a radio. So I don't. I should add a satellite radio like most of my friends have done. I keep trying to come up with a solution that I like to put a decent sized flat screen in that is built in. I am still stumped. I really like the viewing level you get with putting a flat screen on top of our desk I do not like looking up at the ceiling to see TV.
Good luck with your new to you Affinity. We really like ours. They are getting old, but ours drives really well and is still beautiful.

Glen,

I don't know if my response is too late for you, but I have a 2003 Allure with a Bose system. Mine went belly up also and I sent it back to Bose for a rebuild. I was very impressed with the service. I sent it through a local Bose store, but didn't need to. They rebuilt mine, upgraded all changes and sent it back to me for something around $150.00. I had to pay shipping, but it was great! I didn't want to have to change unit models, as it would have involved running a new wiring harness to the woofer in the kitchen cabinet. I was extremely impressed with the whole process. If you call their 800 number, as outlined on your owners manual, they will walk you through it. Good luck! Bruce P.... 40' 2003 Allure w/ tag and ISL370 ...#30852.

Thanks for this link Boyd. I sent my unit to your source just prior to Christmas to repair the display and it was returned before New Years. Just a week and a half to get the unit repaired and returned with all the Fedex Christmas shipping was a pleasant surprise.

My display works as good as the day I took delivery of this coach.
