Direct TV Genie

I have a Motosat 4 wire antenna and want to have a genie dvr installed but it requires SWM technology. (single wire) A tech at fountain RV has installed a converter and tried to plug it into the existing DVR as a test with no success.

Has anyone successfully made this conversion?

Thanks
John

John, Went with a RF Mogul SWM dish. RF Mogul is some of the original Motosat folks. Of course Motosat is no longer in business. Coriwelsh12314 IntrigueSent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone From:

You will need a Single Wire Multiswitch (SWM) and SWM connectors and this really requires someone familiar with Directv's SWM Technology.

I have an HR44-200 (Genie) and it works Great with SWM but there are nuances associated with the wiring so that installer needs to understand the SWM Technology so he knows what parts to buy to make it work.

A Great Source of Information is DBSTALK.COM of which I am a Member which is a Directv/Dish/etc. Forum and you can ask members there what you will need for the installation. A Member named VOS (VeryOldSchool) is Most Knowledgeable in this area and could help you immensely if you PM him once you become a Member which is Free and easy to do.

Great Knowledge about Digital Broadcast Stuff such as Directv and Dish. I am Richierich (my member name).

Let me know if you have any more questions and I can also direct you to an RVer who has technical experience with SWM. His member name is Flugelman and he would be the first person I would ask and then VOS would be the second one as Flugeman has done what you are trying to do.

Good Luck and God Bless,

I have a Motosat dish with a NOMAD 2 controller and my H-21 HD receiver went out and had Direct TV come out to replace with a new Receiver. We determined the receiver had to be their H-24 "Legacy" series without the SWM technology due to the NOMAD 2 controller not being able to except the higher voltage the SWM requires, The NOMAD 2 can only handle 4 volts.
