I do not have one, but looking at the instruction sheet and it says this has to be "Welded", this goes against me just being able to install it. Now I have to find someone to "Weld" it and hopefully it is in the correct position and all.

I have not installed the wax thermo valve but I know some CC Owners that have. They are all satisfied with the installation. Most of those who have done it that I know of have been able to do the welding of the valve themselves. The cost is still over $500 I have been told. I believe that this solution is highly reliable.
On the other hand there are downsides to the wax valve that I am unwilling to live with. The SD FDCA uses inputs from three sensors to control fan speed. Coolant temperature which is the only input to the wax valve solution. Charge air temperature is input to the FDCA and not to the wax valve. And, chassis air conditioner high side head pressure is input to the FDCA.
I have replace the FDCA three times. Twice in my '04 Allure and once in my '03 Magna. The price of the easily installed electronic FDC is about $330. It can be installed on most any of our coaches in about ten minutes. If I have another failure I will replace with another SD FDC because of the enhanced function over the wax controller.

I have bought mine from the Atlanta location but I suppose that any of their sites will do.
Remeber that the FDC is the Fan Drive Controller as opposed to the FDCA the A of which is Assembly. The FDCA in cludes electronic and hydraulic modules. I have never known the hydraulic valve to fail so suggest that the FDC only be replaced.
The numbering scheme for these parts is simple. The FDCA for my Cat is part number 1090411 while the FDC is 1090410. I replaced the 1090410 last month.
The FDCA for the ISL in my Allure was 1090409 while the FDC was 1090408.
I hope I explained it clearly. Let me know if you need additional clarification or help.

The PDF does not indicate if the "Weld Flange" is being just welded to the pipe or if a hole must be drilled in the pipe creating a plumbing "T" connection.
Either way I would want TO REMOVE THE PIPE TO DO THE WELDING.
If it is a "T" plumbing connection extreme care must be observed to insure there id no contamination in the line.

I am not Dave, but yes you need to drill a hole in the pipe. When I installed mine I removed the elbow that holds the thermostat and had a good welding shop weld the flange on. I put in a new thermostat and the reinstalled the elbow. The rest of the installation was real easy.
The only issue I see with this type of fan control is if the engine is still cool but you want to run the dash air there may not be enough air across the air conditioning condenser that is mounted in front of the radiator.
I just be sure the engine is up to operating temp before turning on the dash air. The fan control works great.

George is correct! I mistakenly ordered the complete kit for I think $600 +. I installed just he electronic protion in my 05 Inspire and it worked as designed. I was unable to get a refund for the hydraulic portion that they sent.

George, I've contacted Berendsen Fluid Power Products in Houston and rec'd a quote on a FDC #1090408 the Electronic Module only, price was $358.00 including tax, not freight.
Would you tell me if this was in the ball park of what you paid?

Yes Mike. That is what I payed give or take ten or fifteen dollars. You're not likely to beat that price. Have you looked yet to see how easy the installation is?

George, thanks for reply and info. Regarding change out, I changed one in 07' that I CC sent to me "gratis". I am going to test the Sensors this weekend if it warms up a little. Last time this happened it was the Coolant Sensor. The lead time on the FDC unit is 4 weeks and we'll be on a trip west by then.
