Auto leveling run or not to run?

My new to me 2001 Allure 32' says in several places in the manual that you need to level the coach with it running (HWH). Ours won't level with it running. It has to be off. Also our slide is supposed to used when the coach is level and must be running. But if I have the coach level and then turn on the coach to open the slide, the coach dumps for driving mode. What's going on here?

We just left HWH. They said when you park the coach, leave the engine running. This will provide a better air supply for leveling, put the transmission in neutral, engage the parking brake. Then you should be able to level the coach. Once the coach is level, extend the slides. The HWH will then go into sleep mode and check for level periodically. On our '99 Magna we kept it running (in neutral with the park brake on) we would press the HWH button twice. The red light would begin to blink and it would work until it got level then go to sleep. Once level then with the engine still running we would have put our slides out if we had had slides in that coach. If we turned the key back on with out hitting that level button again it would start to go to drive mode.

Our '06 Affinity is a little different. When we turn on the HWH to level it does so the same as the Magna to level and put out the slides but to go back to drive mode we have to press another button on the HWH or put it in gear (which I like but often forget about).

Sorry about my sign off. I did not know that or somehow overlooked it. Thanks for cluing me in. Loving my coach and loving this group. At first I found this group very different from other forums, but once you get used to this format, it's great.

I'm quite proud of my coach. It was owned by a retired diesel mechanic who is the original owner who only put 28k miles on it, since 2001. He is in charge of mechanical inspections for all Rose Bowl Parade floats and has held that position for more than 30 years, so I assume it was well taken care of. Unfortunately, he gave up camping because of his wife's health. He did all his own work on it and included all the oil, filters, and belts for service. He also included all service records from when it was new, along with his original purchase order and all manuals. I've already replaced all tires and batteries. I also had it professionally detailed on the exterior. The furniture was all covered in plastic, so now with the plastic off it looks brand new. The exterior, however needed the detail because it has not been used for two years.

It just occurred to me that I probably broke another rule-like hijacking my own thread. Sorry, again.

Hopefully I will get this right now.

Kevin gave me great advice about the solinoid that tells the HWH system that the parking brake is on. That means it thinks the brake is off and therefore will not level. It goes into Colton truck terminal tomorrow for that and other service. I will update when I get it back. Thanks for asking.
