Entry door thanks

The response to my issue regarding the Avionics entry door check has been outstanding. Many of you chimed in to help. We all learned that there are two distinctly different mechanisims; one with a curved door-stop bar and one with a loaded, heavy-duty spring assembly, mine being the latter. The noisy racket problem when opening and closing the door has not been solved but I am still on the hunt for a solution. If I find one I will post the solution. Again, thanks to all who responded. What a great group!!!

Lyle, A friend has a '07 Alfa with a spring loaded door check bar. One day the noise that started sounded like something snapping or breaking in the area of the door check. Every time we opened the door to the check position "SNAP", all in one day! We carefully disassembled the door and check and found extra clearance in the pivot/hinge pin at the bar(.002 inches). The noise was coming from the wear in the pin. Something that was overlooked during regular lube service. Donny found a service package online, replaced the pivots and pin, crunching snapping noise was gone......Hope this helps.....Skip

Skip, That is very encouraging. Maybe Donny or you could provide more info on how the repair was accomplished. Where on-line did Donny find the cure? Hope you can dig deeper into this so I can pursue whatever information you come up with.

Hi Lyle, Donny called back to say He has an Attwood door. The service rep had a 10 piece "door check and housing" repair kit. She was very helpful and emailed info before he got the kit. Is it possible the door check and bar assembly could be the same? Attwood has bought out other manufactures recently? Good luck.......Skip
