Hwy-50 in Colorado

Can someone comment on the condition of Hwy-50 from Pueblo, CO east to US-287 at Lamar? I'm looking for a different route to Amarillo, TX.

I has no issues a couple years back, a boring drive. I did it to avoid construction on I 25 but I 25 is fine now. If I were to do it again I would take I 25 to US 87 in Raton NM to Dumas then US 287 to Amarillo 4 lanes most of the way.
