No start after filter change

Yahoo Message Number: 97356
Cleaned strainer and replaced ball check installed new filter. Opened bleed screw and pumped primer pump for almost 15 min with no fuel comming out of bleed screw. Removed strainer and was a few drops of fuel in it. Removed filter and it was dry. Decided to just fill filter with fuel. Tried to start it about four times it will start and run for about 15 seconds and then shut down. Any ideas on were to do from here? I'm kind scared to keep on trying to start it and screwing up thr injectors. This is on a 1998 magna with a series 40

Sounds like there is an air leak in the fuel line prior to the pump. Try sucking on the fuel line and see if you get fuel or air.

Yes, I had an air leak in the fuel system on my boat in the Sea of Cortez for 2 days I kept bleeding it and it would start and then stop. About the third time I took the filter off and put it back on it finally started and kept running. Had to have been the gasket not tight or maybe not straight.
