MACERATOR WORKING BUT PLUGGED

I am trying to dump. The Macerator is on but nothing comes out. There is no movement in the little window where you usually see the material moving.

Any Ideas ?

Is there a valve between the macerator and the tank? Have you tried with the discharge hose disconnected, it may be plugged?

Open it up, see if it's got something jammed or twisted up around the impeller and/or the blade. I'd make sure to have a hose handy to rinse everything as I'm taking it apart.

Forgot to say, first I'd check power & ground to make sure you didn't trip a fuse or breaker..

It will not grind hair, plugs it up big time!. Since I was shown this 2 years ago, I have disconnected it and it sits in a box in a storage locker (YUCK!)

Same with ours, sits on a shelf in the storage unit...Lot more work dumping unless you have a unusual outlet where you need to pump up hill....

I use my macerator almost every time I dump. I think I haven't used it less than 10 of the dumps this year. Yes it doesn't grind certain things, like strings from women hygiene products. Been using mine now for over 10 years, it's just a portable version and after each use I run approximately 10 gallons of water thru it and take it apart once or twice a year to clean out the impeller. My girl has long long hair and very seldom do I find hair in the impeller. The only time Ive had a problem was when a string went down from a guest. Of course it shut off right in the middle of pumping out the black tank, that day really sucked!
Now the reason I use it so regularly is because we both work and when coming home on Sunday I'd rather get home then worry about where to dump, and after driving home the tank has had time to agitate. I park the coach where it goes and then worry about dumping another day if I want & I don't have to move the coach around the yard to get to my dump station.

Last year mine stopped working. I took it apart and found the impeller, (made out of rubber) had broken. The motor would run but nothing came out. I purchased a repair kit and replace the impeller and it has worked great ever since.

Mine macerator is sitting in a box in my barn as I have gone back to the old fashioned way. The hose is too small to create the dumping volume you need to drain the tank of solids and if you dry camp they are really a problem.

We've had a Macerator for over 10 years. Bought it when we were in a Mobile Home Park that allowed RV's and the sewer was at the rear of the lot, ran it through a 3/4" garden hose. We worked with Habitat for Humanity and built stuff for friends, parked the MH in front of the houses, used their clean outs. If we needed a longer run we bough 1" PVC. At our present location it's not easy to run a 3" sever ping ti the sewer connection so I'm in the process of putting in a 1.5" buried pipe to the clean out. Going to make the macerator a permanent installation (at this location) with a grey water bypass. Need to have it so my wife can use it easily. Now on our second unit. Usually takes about 5 minutes to dump our full black water tank, does get a bit hot but never shuts off. We are careful about what goes in the tank, use minimal paper and nothing else. Up to this point I pull any debris out after every use but won't be able to do that after the more permanent installation.
