Patti,
With what you wrote, I confused. Is this vehicle a 4 Wheel Drive or is it an all wheel drive. Normally 4 wheel drive vehicle have a "Transfer Case" which allows the transmission to be in either 2 wheel drive and when needed 4 wheel drive. If the vehicle you are looking at does not have some type of shifting button/lever to allow this... you might just have an "All wheel" driver vehicle. I'm saying this because some people call the all wheel drive vehicle a 4 wheel drive vehicle and that would not be correct. You said that it had a manual transmission, but then you asked if it should be in "Park" or "Neutral". Most Manual transmission do not have a "Park Mode" If you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle, the "Transfer Case" would be put into a "Neutral" position and you can tow it that way. If you can not stop the transmission from turning because of the wheels/tires turning I think most of us would advise not to tow it. If it is a manual shift transmission, yes putting it in neutral you should be able to tow the vehicle because the trans is not turning the wheels. I hope this make sense to you all...

We are purchasing our first coach, 2006 Country Coach and we want to toad our daily driver which is a 2006 Lexus GX470. I have read so many conflicting posts whether it should be flat towed or trailered and whether it should be in park or neutral.
We purposely purchased this car because we understood that 2007 and prior could be flat towed because it has a 4WD manual shift on the floor. Can someone with experience flat towing a GX470 give me some input on how they tow? I'm getting nervous spending all this money to get it ready to tow and burning up my transmission.
