House Batteries not supplying power to coach.

Yahoo Message Number: 98063

Had to replace inverter due to it not charging batteries/overcharging making a loud noise while running. While waiting for new inverter to arrive unplugged inverter as house batteries were draining down. House batteries went dead and coach shut down, ie. fridge or anything that needs house batteries to run. 110 still worked while plugged into 110. Currently staying at father in-laws house and plugged in. Received new inverter and installed, inverter charged batteries and works 110 in coach when not plugged into electricity. However I still can not get house batteries to come back on. I checked the battery disconnect switch by the front door, fusses at back of rig, also pulled up a post about a 7.5 fuse in the back by a relay?? couldn't find exact one but checked all of them or think I did lol. If I hold the battery assist button the generator and house batteries will come on, fridge, alarm under fridge, lights ect. When I let go of the battery assist the generator and house power will die. I found two relays? that come on when the battery assist is applied, I suspect that one of them is not getting power when battery assist switch is not applied. I can not find an inline fuse for this relay am I missing something? I am in the country and phone service/internet is not very good. Any suggestions would be great. Think I might need to reset something?

One of the relays in your battery/inverter area is what CC calls the Domestic 12V Power Relay. Mine died and I had no 12V power to the coach. You can test for that by jumping the two large hot leads on top of the relay. If that restores your power, that relay is toast. I left mine jumped for several months until I finally got a replacement relay.

Check your battery disconnect switch to be sure you have voltage on both sides. They have been known to fail.

That was it, the wife thanks you and so do I. Have been working on this issue for two days. Should of came on here sooner, kinda like asking for directions, lol.

Thanks again.

We bypassed the battery disconnect relay and added a manual disconnect. The reason is we mostly dry camp and found the disconnect relay drew about 1 amp or so 24 hours a day. The relay should have been a latching relay so it is only momentarily powered up.

Ok thought inverter was charging batteries, shows three stages of charging, ie. bulk, absorption and float. However none of the batteries are charging, all three dead this a.m. Am I missing something else or am I reading the monitor wrong for inverter? Will be heading into Tucson on way to Florida if I can get that far. I have read good reviews about premier RV and hopefully can get that far if no other suggestions. Gary when I jumped the solenoids would that keep batteries from charging? Thanks

There should be a large fuse between the batteries and the charger/inverter if that is blown you would not charge. Wondering if when you jumped around if all you did was allow the coach to use the chassis battery. In other words you jumped the boost/emergency solenoid not the disconnect solenoid so it just allowed all batteries to be discharged.

OK Ray that fixed the charging issue I think. Now I don't have power to Hydronic Heater, Backup Camera, Generator or CB. Started and drove rig no problems and showed charing. Have been looking for a possible fuse that might connect all of these problems. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,

Check the main resets; should have at least one or more. Red buttons near battery compartment
