Michael,

Which warranty did you get from them and how much is your deductible?

When I bought both new CC  warranties for the first  5 or 6 years they were a bargain.  Shopping for the next go around was a real eye awakening experience. After getting taken to the cleaners, I'm naked now.  But we paid of the coaches real fast, so I just pretend I'm spending the interest we saved.  $112,000 on the Intrigue.  In fact it would still be another 3 years before we would have paid off the Allure and another 9 on the Intrigue.or about 195,000 dollars in  interest over 26 years.  So I guess I can afford to pay some repairs.  I would hate to think what I would have been paying if I hadn't gotten about 28% off list price on both coaches and way to much trade in for my  Airstream TT.    TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731 98 Allure 30255

The entire warranty issue is determined by repairs and regular maintenance. As your coach ages you can be  assured items must be replaced as length in service runs out. After our CC passed 50K miles and reading the fine print in a warranty plan belts, hoses, gaskets were no longer covered. The gasket item doesn't cover any thing where  the leaking gasket actually caused the problem.  It just makes sense to read closely the fine print.
Warranty companies have spent days, weeks, months in preparing warranty terms that become arbitrary when repair reimbursements are asked for.
I'am not wanting to start a war over this warranty issue. I'am sure some warranties are all well and good. Most of the time we only hear about the problems.

We bought a warranty through Warranty Warehouse last November. They send out someone to do an inspection. They actually have to go with you and see how it drives. Our coach is a 2004 Allure with 48,000 miles. The cost was around $5,000 for 4 years, deductible is $200 per visit. We haven't used it yet. So, I can't give any advice about how easy they are to work with when it's time for a claim. They give a discount for military, plus if you pay for it all up front, plus some other discounts so be sure to check on that. The warranty is actually through Portfolio Protection.

I was recently treated so well by US Warranty Company uswceagle.com that I feel I simply must make a positive post on their behalf. I recently had service done at Tiffin Factory Service in Red Ba, AL, and for those of you who don't know, the level of service you get from Tiffin is unrivaled in the motorhome industry... which is WHY I upgraded form our Country Coach to an Allegro Bus. Tiffin definitely did NOT disappoint. They charged me less than 20% of what Country Coach charged me a few years back and the list was three times as long,.  But one thing they don't much like to deal with are extended warranty companies. I had one major item, the cooling fan gearbox and shaft which needed to be replaced at a cost of $1100 and Tiffin's initial inquiry with USWC was denied. So I paid it out of pocket and then took it up with USWC myself. They reimbursed me every dollar of the cost. Great company. I had EasyCare before... I much prefer USWC

The trick in buying any extended warranty is to check with repair shops that you respect and see who THEY recommend.  We did that when bought our Chevy Suburban, trading in our Lincoln. I asked both the Ford Dealer I had been using and my new Chevy dealer... who did they recommend. The both said National Warranty out of Eugene, OR. I went with them and could not be more pleased. I just had an incident where my A/C was not working right and I also had a broken door handle on the rear hatch (my own fault). I took the Burb to the local Chevy Dealer where we are in Florida and sure enough they fixed both under the warranty, no charge at all. That is a good warranty. People that say all warranty companies are scams have NO idea what they are talking about.

When it came to the coach, I contacted three different RV repair shops I had worked with in the past and asked them to rate from 1-10 EasyCare, Good Sam and USWC. Good Sam was the unanimous loser and USWC the unanimous winner. And Oregon Motor Coach in Eugene, an excellent repair shop which I had used for my Country Coach actually had started selling USWC ext warranties exactly BECAUSE they were the best to work with. If you read my previous post you will see that their advice was certainly supported by my recent claim with Tiffin.

Price is a consideration, for sure, but I would rather pay a bit more for something that is useful, rather than buy something cheap which is useless. When you DO buy an extended warranty the best kind to get is an "exclusionary" policy rather than stated coverage. That is, if it is not listed as excluded, then it is covered

I agree with asking the repair shops about the best extended service contracts. I bought my new to me CC Inspire from Guaranty in Junction City and they have treated me well. They tried to sell me a contract at the time of purchase but I declined. Now I am rethinking. They are a broker for StarRV and the price for a 4yr plan is just under 5k for the Diamond plan. I am handy around the coach and feel all I need is the Cat C9, Allison Transmission and the slide outs covered. The rest I can do myself with some dedication.

Any experience with StarRV Insurance?

Now that you mentioned  Star, I feel obligated to comment.

First of all. I am a shadow participant in this forum as I am negotiating on a CC Intrique  and wanted to learn more about common issues.

I have purchased bumper to bumper extended warranties on several autos (Corvettes, Mercedes, BMWs, Cadillacs, 4 wheel drives, etc). I purchased them due to their complexity and cost of repairs. So far, I have always recovered the initial premium costs.

My current DP came with an extended  STAR warranty provided by the the original owner. It was the Diamond package which I read and interpreted to be all  inclusive like the auto warranties that i had purchased. It was sold as an "exclusionary' policy, but the truth is in the double negatives in the Exclusions section." For all coverage levels except Diamond, Parts not listed are not covered". I had a couple of claims that were denied using the phrase above as the basis. I escalated several levels within  the Claims Processing service and could not find a voice of reason.

When that policy expired, I purchased another extended warranty from Wholesale Warranties (Brittany Malkin) who placed me with the Portfolio Protection Exclusionary policy. We have had a few claims (e.g. Air Compressor, Coolant leak, water heater, plumbing leak, awning motor, etc). all of the claims were processed quickly between  the repair facility and Portfolio Protection without a single intervention by me.

I am happy enough with Wholesale warranties that I contacted them to price a new Policy for the CC.

I am sure that others had good experiences with Star and bad experiences with Portfolio, but based upon my negative experience with Star, I would suggest avoiding them.
