Coach Weight

Yahoo Message Number: 100541
I had my coach weighted to day.  All four corners with the tag.

the front were about 300 pounds different for side to side

But the duals and tag were like 4500 pounds different.
Unless the guy mis-read the scale.

For those who have had this done, was there a big difference between the rear duals and the tag?

Of course it put the duals off the chart for air and the Tag didn't even make the chart.

I'm perplexed....

I presently have Goodyear G670 RV tires on the vehicle..

I have yet to weigh my Coach and was curious where you went to have it weighed?

Thanks,

Eric,

I got it weighed through "Pete's Tires"  they have several locations throughout So CAl.  the cost was $25.00

I had mine weighed at the FMCA rally in Indio. My right side is 800 pounds heavier than the left. Not much I can do about it since my slide, kitchen, and generator are all on that side. I believe I paid $60 for it. The coach weighed very light and the stats from Good Year Tire called for 70-80lbs. I did drop the tires from 120 to 110 (Front) and 110 to 100 in the front.

Eric,

Forgot to mention... not all the locations have the scales.
I made an appointment so they could have the scales in Fontana where I went for the service.

My 98 allure  from the factory was 1150 lbs heavy on the left front.  After re adjusting the ride height valves the difference was a nearer to 700 LBS.  After loading the coach and taking care with passengers the difference was 550 lbs, which was consider acceptable.  My 2004 coach with 3 slides  wet, with tanks full was 150 lbs heavy on the left side total.  Loaded we are about 300 lbs heavy on the left side.  I could move my tool box and a few other things and balance the coach, but Mr Churchill and Dave Remington who were in charge of the chassis fabrication department said not to worry.  That they became concerned when weight on  a single corner difference exceeded 750 lbs up front and over 1200 lbs  on the rear was when they became concerned.  Personally,  I can't believe your coach is that lop sided.  I would have the coach re weighed.  2004 Intrigue 42" 3 slide 11731.

Thomas,

thanks for that info... I was planning to have the coach re-weighted. the fronts where only 300 lbs difference between the two.

Where I got concerned was that the duals weight, measured against the tag weight were over 4500 LBS difference.

I was full of fuel, had about 25 gals of water and less than 10% of black and gray water.

So short of having clothes and some food and us... I'm trying to figure out how to move any weight around to a normal range (what ever "NORMAL" is).

Not sure where you are seeing the 4500 lb difference. If it is side to side  on the drive, then something is wrong. I would suspect a bad weight.
IF you are saying the tag is 4500 lbs lighter than the drive on the same  side. That means nothing. The tag will usually have about 6-9000 lbs on it.  split between both sides.
What are the weights of the tag and drive axle on each side. That is a  total of 4 weights.

Mikee,

the Drive wheel weight was 8580 on right side and the right side tag was 4700 The left side drive was 9300, with the left side tag being 4900.

They did not measure the inside tire weight of the tag axle.

I thought that they (Duals and Tag) would have been close together than that.

Let me put this a different way.

Left Side Drive 9300
Right Side Drive 8580
Difference        720

Left Tag    4900
Right Tag    4700
Difference    200

There is no inside tire on the tag, it is a single tire axle. The tag is  probably a 10,000 axle the drive is either 23,000 or 20,000.

Your weights look good.

Mikee,

Thanks for looking and telling me things are within a normal range.
I try to put things that are heavy (point of view) in the middle of the basement storage.  Again thanks for the info.

The tag is supposed to carry approximately 1/2 the weight of the duals.  So as long as your within 10 or 15% of half, I wouldn't worry.  TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731
