Electric Blanket

We arrived yesterday at Rancho California in Aguanga, CA. It's our first visit and it's a beautiful rural setting. A nice change from the Palm Springs area.

It's cooler up here and I would like to find a good electric blanket. The last one we bought only lasted a few weeks then both controllers failed. I guessed it was an issue of incompatibility with the inverter. Has anyone found a good electric blanket that works with a Xantrex inverter?

Although we haven't purchased one yet.  RV forums say the only electric blanket that will work with MSW inverter are the Soft Heat Low Voltage Electric Blankets or bed warmers made by Perfect Fit Industries.

We "fried" several coffee makers that we left plugged in when we changed from shore power to inverter to generator.  As a work around we now unplug the coffee maker until we are plugged in to shore power or until we have the generator running. We also purchased a basic coffee maker with just an "on-off" switch with no electronics.  I wonder if that would also work with an electric blanket.  Look for one with simple controls not electronic ones.

We had the same problem. Discovered that if the blanket is plugged in when not on shore power it would blow the controls.
We have the same Royal electric blanket now and always unplug it every morning even when hooked up to shore power so that we won't forget when we unhook to leave. The blanket has not been a problem since we started this regime.

In order to work with a standard inverter, the blanket must have an older style, mechanical control. They are becoming tougher to find as we all need the "newest and best" which doesn't like the modified sine wave that most inverters produce. If your inverter will produce a true sine wave, then any blanket should work.

I have found that Cuisinart coffee makers work with my modified sine wave xantrex freedom 458.
