whay is the name of the menudo tire of window shade?  I have a couple strings broke myself..  Don't know how to get to the top mount, but I guess the manufacture could help with that..
Any help would be appreciated.

Removing valences is probably your answer (but I still don't understand the question).

I am guessing I take the valance down?  I see the wood and screws on the bottom.  I looked in the cabinet to see if there were screwed from the top but it's not.  I'm thinking taking the top of the valance down looks tricky ...Sent from Yahoo Mail for iPhone On Oct 16, 2015, 11:44:31 AM, Vick Welsh v.welsh@... No need to take the valance down. The top rail of the shade is attached to brackets on the valance by two flip devices. Using a flashlight, look straight up to the inside edge of the upper rail and you should see two shiney tabs. Depress and rotate each of those and your top rail will separate from the valance.

DW has done several restringings over the years and I find that wine helps. Seriously though, it is all very logical once you start to take one apart. She buys cordage and a heavy needle at Joanns Fabric Store and uses the bed to lay it out and string it. Toughest part is usually getting the upper frame to release from their bracket clips so you can work on the blind, but practice has made even that a lot easier. Good luck.

I found this video useful before the first string job I did.  A tip that I learned is to be careful not to get the new string to tight... Leave a little extra play at the very last step of anchoring the string.  The window shade operates more smoothly if there is a little bit of extra string, but if the string is too tight the shade requires lots more effort to operate.  http://youtu.be/398wcJoR8wsThe first two shades I restrung I didn't remove the valance, but the next time I probably will, by remove the screws underneath the window that support the trim that surrounds the window and also supports the valance above (in my coach, anyway).John Coleman'02 intrigue  11461

Of course my shade has 4 strings.  One which broke.  Before I jump on it, does anyone know where to get string diagram?  Or what Company manufactured the blinds?Bob03 Allure 3 slide/40/tag #30814

This will be very helpful.  I guess the cord tensioner is under white plate..  Because that's where the strings end out of sight.  Not sure what the eye on top has to do with restring, but I guess that education I will get as I do it. Bob

Yes, the cord is tied together beneath the bottom plate, a little different than the diagram shows.  It's that point beneath the bottom plate where you don't want to tie the ends too tightly together so that the shade operates more smoothly. John

In our 2002 Allure, the day-night shades were supplied by Specialty Window Coverings (division of Decorator, Inc.). When I called in 2009, they sent me a free repair kit including restringing instructions. The last contact information I have for them is 1614 N Eisenhower Dr. N, Goshen, IN 46526, (574) 262-5190.
If you that doesn't work for you, fixmyblinds.com has everything you need for day-night blind repair; string, parts, instructions, etc. I eventually just bought the 300' spool of (Alabaster color, 1.4mm) blind string - a good long-term investment!
I, too, find it much easier to simply remove the entire window treatment (valance) to work on the project. I could never get the blinds securely remounted in the spring clips without more room to work. Most of ours window boxes are simply screwed to the cabinet directly above and wall below with square drive screws. Access to the top screws is easier with a flex-drive extender.

question re front furnace and kitchen sink 12 v light and 3 reading

Hi all

We have had a problem with our front gas furnace working and then not working.  This trip we've realized that the front furnace, the 12 volt light above our 06 Inspire kitchen sink and the 3 reading lights over the sofa adjacent to the kitchen galley all work  or don't work at the same time.  Just a few minutes ago, I went to turn off the over the sink light, and the reading light that was on went off and so did the furnace.  Does anyone have any idea how to figure out what is causing this and then how to fix it  so they all work again?  Thank you in advance.

Mary,

The only thing they all have in common is the 12V fuse block. We had similar problems and the fix was to replace the block. If you pull it out and look at the backside you may find some lose wires, some of mine were burned.
