I have a 40' 1996 Intrigue and the cruise control has just stopped operating on our last trip. I can't seem to find a fuse so identified. Has anyone had a similar experience or can you direct me in looking for a fuse or other suggestions to get this operating again. Thanks,  Stuart

Need to know more... being a 96' it's probably a mechanical engine so I'd guess it has a cruise king. Do you have switches on the arm rest (king) or on the column  turn switch. If it's king, the control box will be in the engine bay usually on top of the motor in a little silver box (I think silver) you can go to their  web site  Cruise Controls for Diesel engines.
You can check power & ground & all the switch connections -- but my guess is once you open up the box you'll find the burnt terminal strip.... Cost me like $500,  5 or 6 years ago on my 95'.

The cruise has gone out on our 96 Intrigue. I have checked for a blown fuse but don't even find a fuse identified for the cruise. Any suggestions? Thanks, Stuart

On some units the cruise will not work if the engine/exhaust brake is on.

Check that.

Are your brake lights working? On most systems the brake  switch deactivates the cruise.

Mark M.,

I have a 98 Allure with the 6CTA Cummins. My steering column mounted cruise is also starting to kick out at times. I have hot yet checked to wiring connections in the steering column and etc. But, I would like to have the contact info on the re-builder that you mentioned in case I need their services. Please post on the forum or E mail to me directly.

Is King Cruise related to King Controls, the mfr. of stationary and portable satellite antennas ie, Trak King, Vu Qube, Tailgater and King Quest? They are located in Bloomington, MN Daron Hairabedian, 98 Allure 30226

Where is that relay and connector located? Did you use spray electrical contact cleaner or do something else? Daron Hairabedian, 98 Allure 30226

I searched a Foretravel motor-home blog and found: cruisecontrolking.com.
Cruise King, LLC
22250 Glynview Trail
Fairibault, MN 55021
507.334.0250

Contact Steve Boller, Owner (Steve was involved in the development of the original King Cruise.)

The company website includes schematics for all types of controls that they manufacture and some trouble shooting hints. One hint indicated that a short in the brake light circuit or a burned out filament in the brake lamp will render the control inoperative. This is because the control unit must "see" working brake light in the circuit. This safety circuit is in place to be sure that an activated brake lamp circuit will be able to turn the King Cruise Control off automatically.
After testing, I noted that my right combination brake lamp and turn signal had a burned filament. I replaced that lamp. Hopefully, that will solve the problem. I will test the cruise control on my next trip within a couple of weeks, then report.

BTW parts or replacement units may be ordered direct from the factory. Also, it is my understanding that they would repair and return modules if required. The website encourages customers to call with any questions. Bloggers have reported that the factory reps are very informative and anxious to help even with phone diagnosis if needed.

I hope this helps some of you who have Cummins 8.3 Liter CTA, mechanical engines with the Cruise King Cruise Control units.

Hi Daron.

The place is called Cruse King LLC  http://www.cruisecontrolking.com/ and they are located in Faribault MN.  507-334-0250

What I had to do with mine was remove it from the engine, FedEx it to him, and in 24 hours he rebuilt and Fed-Ex'd it back to me.  The total cost was around $500 bucks.
