Mike,

What do they do to solve the problem ? Do they remove the glass and then clean and replace ?

Stan, most of these places do remove the window/s, take them apart, clean them and put them back together with new seals.  We had several done by RV Fog Doctor in Searcy, AR when we traveled thru that area last year.  There was a fellow there with another CC having all his windows done.

We had several of our windows done at Suncoast Designers in Hudson Florida.  They have hookups in their parking lot where you stay before the appointment.  They remove the windows,  separate the glass, clean them, put them back together and reinstall them.  Excellent service. I think they were about $250-$350 for each window back when we had ours done.

Stan, we paid $300 for the big driver's window and $200 for each of the other windows.  We had 5 windows done.  We got there at about 11:00 am and they were done by 4:30.

They have full hook up (water, sewer and 50 amp) at each of their service bays.

Has anyone ever replaced fogged windows with just single thickness glass just like our large front windshields on our coaches ? Once you would do this they would never need replaced again. Some might say we would lose a heating/cooling factor but do not know if there is that much difference. And we all still have that big front windshield that is single thickness even if all other windows are double.

No, but I saw what I think were prototypes about 1 1/2 tears ago at RV Glass Solutions. You might contact Doug Rutherford.

Arizona Windshields in Tucson replace our toll window, entry door window, and passenger window with glass that is a sandwich of glass and some sort of plastic.  Not much colder than the dual pane and no more fogging.  On ours we had to have the glass tinted but I think he now has glass with the proper tint from the factory.  Last spring he was redoing an Allure.  Victor can be reached at (520) 882-5823.  He does a lot of work for Premier RV Services in Tucson.

That is exactly what I did!!The only gas filled windows on my coach is the drivers side and the door, so what heat and cooling you loose is negligible. Another plus factor, any glass company in the country can cut safety glass to fit.

Bob,

When they changed your glass, did they have to change the rubber molding that the glass sits in? I would think that the thickness of the glass would be of different thickness.  Just curious.

The thickness did not make a difference. They ran a bead of some kind of super tough sealer around the frame then set the glass in and filled it out to the edge of the frame with the sealer. You would never know the glass had been changed if you didn't know it !!

One reason the loss isn't huge is the windows are not gas filled. Just like the ones in your S&B if you have dual pane there. If they were true gas filled they would be a lot more expensive due to gas and the seals required.

I had the left driver window, entry door, ride side and a small window in slide replaced with a 3/8 thick single pane tinted glass.  It is the same thing they use in industrial equipment and can't tell and difference in sound or cooling.  Windows Arizona from Tucson came to Surprise AZ and did it last Feb.  I am very happy so far, not as cheap as these others, but upside they will never fog again.
