RV purchase/sales

It is interesting that people generally do not ask a home builder how much it cost to build the house, nor do we ask the sales clerk how much the store paid for a toaster, but we expect to have that information for vehicles. Don't get me wrong, I also want that information, but when you think about it, why aren't we consistent? The reason I want the information is the fact that vehicle sales people have a long and notorious reputation for lying and I need to level the playing field as much as possible. I also agree with someone's comments concerning the retail price. When I walk into a new coach and see a retail price in excess of $500K I immediately say this is not a coach for me. If I could purchase that coach for say the high $300's that would definitely increase my interest If Bob Lee can make CC profitable again by dramatically increasing prices and people keep buying his products, why should he do anything different?

PS

There was a recent article on Edmunds.com about an Edmund's employee going to work at two car dealerships to see how they operated. It was interesting reading.
