Bose 3-2-1 replacement, FM antenna question, and XM too
Yahoo Message Number: 99366
Hi All - Hope everyone are enjoying their CC's as much as we are:)!
I'm replacing our Bose 3-2-1 with a new Marantz receiver (part of a front of coach cabinet refresh for a 40" LED, replacing the curtain shade, etc.).
The coach is at the shop an hour away, so can't just go look to see!
Two questions:
1) Does anyone know if the 3-2-1 as installed by CC had an external FM antenna attached to it?
As the new Marantz goes in, I'd like to have a roof top antenna supporting it. Has anyone ever added a rooftop antenna to support the entertainment receiver? (Amazon, and Google bring back a mix of results - but not sure if any of the products are any good.)
2) Our 04 Allure, had the XM option hooked up to the in dash Pioneer. Does anyone know if the XM/Sirus is separate component, that then feeds the Pioneer dash unit?
I'd like to abandon the XM/Sirus going thru the In Dash unit, and feed the signal to the Marantz receiver. (Adding to ceiling speakers in place of the Bose, and would usually run with this while going down the road vs the dash Pioneer.)
The Ceiling Speakers will be angled back towards the rear, but with the front cabinet 'redo' they will be forward enough that they should provide better sound then comes out of the 6 1/2" Pioneers speakers that are mounted above and slightly behind us.
(We are also adding a soundbar for simulated surround duty on movies. The ceiling speakers are for HiFi listening only, as I stream quite a bit of high def tunes via Spotify (old MOG, sure miss MOG!), Radio Paradise, Pandora, etc. Plus we have a solid state hard drive feeding high def signal tunes thru a Oppo down to the soon to be installed Marantz. We care more about HiFi sound, then movie watching sound... So I'm not adding 5.1 into the coach. We'll still be able to enjoy BluRay concerts playback, but will listen to them via PCM.)
Appreciate any tips on FM antennas, or amps for them, and if anyone knows about the XM/Sirus being a separate moduel component or not...
Best to all,
Smitty
