Don't blame Dish or Direct. I too had local channels all over the country....loved watching my Tampa Bay local news in Montana. But FCC changed rules. Sat wanted all local channels to compete with cable....in Tampa-St Pete that's 10 locals including Spanish, educ, old UHF, etc. In return they were forced to spot beam. So I have east /west feed for four major networks (NYC and LA) which works fine when traveling and I keep the local deal for $5.00 a month....feel if I cancel locals when traveling I'll never get it back. Whole package with a zillion channels...little over $50 on Direct TV. Spot beam may vary by area but I lose locals about 50 miles out of Tampa.
