I'll second Mary's comment on hoping you continue visiting the board and sharing your knowledge. Don Seager has been doing so, and as an owner of the same year Allure, he has been a wealth of knowledge. While I do not drop in as often as I used to, I do recall many of your postings helping others - and many times myself, as I've read back thru the history. Please keep in touch, and continue to help us all:)!
While you may have missed the Snow Bird crowd in the South West, you are still at a good point in time for those starting their summer adventures. I've always thought their were two ways of proceeding on a sale of such a fine vintage coach:
1) Get it in top shape, get your folder of documentation in order. Come up with the price that you would be willing to let it go for, and add 5-10% to allow some wiggle room. Then hit RV Trader, IRV2, Escapees, etc. Post many, many good pictures, even get a pro to come take the shots for you if you're not into that kind of thing.
2) Work on a contingent basis. But PPL gets lots of traffic. Or if local to Southern California (Can't recall where you are...), California Coaches in Coast Mesa has a good reputation. And I bought my coach from Holland Motors out of San Diego (now San Marcos), with a very good salesman named Steve Wilson. He's a straight shooter, and is more interested in future sales referrals and repeat customers, then he is on getting the top dollar in commission. And, he's pretty dang honest, and will tell you 'Here is what you should expect...'. (Sometimes hard to hear:)!) A professional like Steve, knows of potential buyers that you might never reach via normal advertising.
And finally, Craigslist is free, and I'll be dang if I did not sale my Bounder via Craigslist. People do SearchTempest, and may be several hundred miles away, and find your coach. So, why not?
And Lyle, suggest as many board members area always 'on the look out' for potential coach changes. Go ahead and update with more specifics on your Intrigue model, engine, miles, upgrades here too. This is a service to fellow board members, as you could help one of them say 'Oh yeah, that's the one for us!'.
And salute to you on doing what you feel is the right thing for yourself, too many times I hear about this not taking place. Move forward, and grin as you look back!
Best regards,
Smitty
