Static charge on Coach Armor shield

I use a metal polish called "Flitz" to polish my Coach Armor front acrylic shield. It works great and looks like new when I am done. Except there is only one drawback. My lambs wool buffing wheel sheds and the fibers cling to the surface due to the static electricity created by the buffing action. I carefully wipe it off but, I am concerned that the shield is still charged and is attracting all airborne particulate matter that floats over the surface messing up my hard work. I know the static is still there because it makes the hair on my arms stand at attention.
In the plastics manufacturing business we would dip the finished products in a light detergent solution. Then just let it dry. That probably would not be practical here as it may leave spotting on the clear acrylic.
Any suggestions? How do I eliminate the static in the finished job? Daron Hairabedian, 98 Allure, 30226

Hello Daron,

I had same problem with static when I would wax my rig.  After some thought I remembered when I was a kid that some vehicles would have a strip hanging from the frame to the ground to ground the vehicle.  Then I saw the city buses here in Phoenix with an Anti-static strap hanging from the rear of the bus.  I found some Anti-static Staps.  Don't remember where but they are a Bell product with a part/model number of 00108-3.  They are black with orange edges.  Actually found website: wwwbellautomotive.com they are out of Scottsdale Arizona.  Has made a world of difference and would recommend them.  Coach also used to attract dust like crazy and I don't have that problem anymore.

Hi Donnie,

Thanks for your suggestion. As I recall, years ago these straps used to be standard issue on certain vehicles but I have not noticed any lately.  Online it got mixed reviews but, I'll try it.
