I tried to search the site, and well, I won't repeat how inadequately I'm able to navigate/search on the Yahoo User Group formants. (Appreciate having it, but have always felt that Yahoo should not provide a service that is not supportive of it's primary purpose - info sharing. Certainly when a User Group member is researching a problem, or trying to learn about an issue, having a basic search that works - is part of that need....)

OK - So pretty sure my fan controller has gone South, and probably has been for sometime now:)! Will do some testing to validate this, but starting up the engine when cold, the fan seems to run pretty high. Plus, when I shift on the OTR AC, I detect no difference of a 'higher' sounding fan. So, think it defaulting to high.

Many of the Monaco owners, have gone the Source Engineering wax valve route. Looking for opinions on doing so with our CC. Or, I could call Kevin Waite and have him provide a OEM replacement.

Suspect this has been kicked around here many times before, so my apologies for bringing it up once again:)!

Opinions please!

Best to all,

Smitty

Smitty,

When our C-12 had the "fan-always-on-high" problem, it was the air intake temperature sensor. Kevin Waite had it as well as the coolant temperature sensor. I bought both and installed them and the fan returned to normal operation. The price was $45.00 per sensor. BTW: those sensors are long-lead-time items. They come from (I think) England. We were lucky that Kevin had them in stock. Caterpillar did not and the closest one Peterson CAT in Eugene, OR could find was in Virginia.

FWIW

Thanks Dave - Assume the ISL has the same basic setup?

And that's a great point, just because it is running on high all of the time, does not mean it hast to be the Sauer-Danfoss unit itself. It could be a sensor problem.

Kevin and I will be playing tag today, I'm going to sign up for his yearly phone support maintenance program, and also get his help debugging why three of the Over The Road AC vents are no longer blowing air. (I've checked all of the fuses that I can find, and must be missing something. Will review with Kevin over the phone, and see what I've missed.)

I kind of kick myself on the fan running on high all of the time, as my wife reminded me that I had commented at least three years ago now, how surprised I was with our dust cloud as we were leaving a campground in South Dakota. It was a cool day, and we had just started the coach and maybe let it run two minutes as we brought in the slides, before heading out. So it sure was not running warm in two minutes. And I know the OTR AC was off, as it was in the high 30's at that time. She said I had commented that I 'need to check the fan controller' back then... Totally spaced out on it, and never noticed the fan was on high after that again.

Oh well, we'll take this one step at a time!

Best to you, and all,

Smitty

Smitty,

Apologies if this is a duplicate. I tried to respond a few minutes ago but it did not show up. Since yours is a Sauer-Danfoss system I would assume that the configurations are similar. That said, your coach is two years newer that mine and there may have been changes driven by model year.
Someone else posted a test procedure for a Sauer-Danfoss controller but I don't know if it's applicable to yours or mine. I'm trying to attach a PDF for the one I have. It may have come from this forum.

Good luck and let us know what you find.
