Thermal Was Controller

Yahoo Message Number: 102016
This message is for Lyle Weatherholt. Was just talking to Kevin Waite and he indicated that you had put on your CC the Thermal Was Controller in lieu of the Saurer DanFoss. Was wondering if you could get with me off the forum so I could get a bit more info on the wax system you had put on your coach?

Thanks,

Lyle,

I replaced my Danfoss control with the wax melt contol a couple of years ago with some helpfull advise from you. I am very happy with the install. There is one concern I have with the operation of the fan using the wax melt verses the Danfoss control. It is my understanding the Danfoss control will bring the fan to high speed whenever the dash air conditioner is turned on regardless of engine temp. The wax melt valve only senses engine temp so if the engine water temp is somwhat below 180 degrees the radiator fan will be on low. I worrry this will cause high discharge pressure in the air conditioner. For this reason I do not run  the AC until I see around 180 for water temp.
Do you do also delay start of the engine driven AC until the water warms up or do you have another method of avoiding high discharge pressure?

Norm,

I have not had to employ any special techniques to protect the AC.  I do not turn the AC on to cool down the coach before leaving on a trip.  On the road there is no problem.  If you are concerned call Scott at Source Engineering.  He will send you a small fitting to insert into one of the hydraulic hoses.  This item will let the fan run at low speed all the time thus giving the AC some cooling.  I don't think the AC is going to go high pressure very quickly so I have not been concerned about it.
