How to remove the 2 wire plug off the fan controller selenoid

My controller is mounted on the rear side of the radiator. I've took apart the 3 pin connection and put some dialectic grease in the plug. Can someone tell me how to get the two wire connection off of the solenoid? What temp sensor feeds the ecm to tell the fan to turn on? My fan is staying on most of the time. My temps read 183-194 in 100° temperatures. My fan comes on immediately on a cold start.

Hi Leon,

The two wire connector on the solenoid is held in place by a small screw that is both flat blade and Phillips. Unfortunately the screw faces the fan shroud and you cannot get to it easily. The best way I have found is to loosen the bolt (or nut on some) slightly that holds the solenoid in place and you can then turn the solenoid to where you can get to the screw. Be very careful with re-tightening the bolt (or nut) to only 4 to 5 foot pounds. I use blue Loctite to hold it in place.

I also understand that the valving in the hydraulic fan motor can cause this problem also but it's very rare.

There are a number of things that can turn the cooling fan on depending on how your motor home is configured.
Engine Temp
Intake air Temp
Dash A/C when on

The "Jake Brake" when in operation (not sure if the exhaust brakes also work this way)

Just had mine replaced last week. Unfortunately seems to be very common. I checked the Danfoss website and found that the max operating temp for the controller is 221F. I think the fan shroud is a very bad location because of the constant heat in the area of 200 degrees and more. Mine is no longer installed on the side of the fan shroud. Have not figured out a permanent location yet but it will be as far away from the radiator as the hydraulic lines will allow.
