Fantastic Fan/Atwood

I had an occasion to deal with Atwood over my Fantastic fan issues for the first time since Fantastic sold out to them. They were very reasonable. The continuing issue I have is the lift motors and associated things. They are garbage: the splines where the motor attaches to the lift arm go eventually. This would be the third time in 8 years. Atwood told me this is a known design flaw: the Fantastic splines were made of pressed powder metal and fall apart. Atwood had the motors, splines and lift arms redesigned (machined splines--no more powdered metal). In addition, the new kits will have a manual knob!  I always wondered why mine did not and learned this was a special design for CC since in certain CC applications there is some kind of valance (not in mine). Anyway they charged me $12.95 for shipping for two kits  and that was it. Not Fantastic but pretty good.

I am glad to hear about this but I have had a somewhat different experience. Possibly due to the age of my Fans.

I have a 1998 CC Magna and experienced problems with the lift fan. I got the repair kit from Atwood and began the repair. I found that the replacement parts have different mounting screw dimensions that made the installation difficult espacially since Atwood did not note the difference. I was able to complete the repair after discovering the difference and redrilling one hole.

Last month I had a failure of my second fan. Based on my prior experience I decided to try a repair. I used JB Weld to attach the damaged spline to the motor and, so far, it is working well. May be worth a try rather than the replacement since Atwood charged me close to $100 for the replacement motor and shaft and the dimensional problems that I encountered.

Well Bob, I have not received the kits, yet, so I may yet have the same incompatibility issues. My coach is only 4 years newer than yours. In my case I had already received two sets of Motors and lift arms from fantastic and Atwood knew it so I think this is why they were so merciful.

I had one go out a couple of months ago on my 2000 Intrigue and I had a great experience with Atwood, they sent me a new kit and charged me shipping but no charge for the part. It was an easy install with no modification required.
