Hi, just took out the cat id and replace it with a scan gauge d.What a great  unit, anyway i have the owners manual if any one needs it. Charles 2000 Magna 5886

I like my ScanGaugeD. Like getting digital readout of speed, water temp, etc. But one of the main reasons I bought it was to be able to read fault codes when they are logged. On a recent trip I lost a water pump. I got a engine high temp and stop engine light. I was surprised and unhappy that the ScanGaugeD did not log any of the fault codes. I called the company and they said it will not log a code unless the check engine light comes on.

Maybe it will still prove useful in other situations, but not in this case.

Charles: How did you hook up the Scan D to your MH? I have a 2000 Magna also but only have the two connectors (J1939 and J1587) located in the back engine service bay with no connection points at the dash (or for that matter underneath or behind the dash or shifter console--since I searched high and low there). I do have the Allison transmission connector female plug directly under my dash but my understanding is that the Scan D requires the special "J" series connection points.

A friend of mine with a 2000 Magna purchased a Scan D and had trouble on the hookup either of the inputs. He called Scan D and described his issue. They were able as I recall to inform him how to do it and I believe it was sending him a different wiring hookup.
I suggest you call Scan D home office.    ScanGauge - Trip Computer + Digitial Gauges + ScanTools

I ain't  Charles, but I have the same issue. Called the company and they said use an extension cable. So that's what I did. Got a 50 ft cable as ran it from the plug in back, under the bus and up to the dash where it plugs into the guage. Bit of a pain but works fine.

driveit: Did you fabricate the extension cable? If so how many individual wires were needed and what gauge were they? If you purchased it outright where did you buy it from and what did it cost you.
