2000 Allure front suspension parts

Yahoo Message Number: 103585
Hi,

I have a 2000 Allure that I've had since 2002; I've been a member of this board since 2003.  I have taken very good care of my coach and planned to use for quite some time to come.  However, during it's current annual service, my service shop discovered that the coach needs front suspension lower control arms.  They've been in contact with Country Coach parts for the past week.  Today, they informed me that Country Coach says the parts are no longer available and the manufacturer does not have an alternative source.  Do any of you have any ideas where I might be able to get these suspension arms?

Thx,
Brian

Wow, that is disturbing.  If it is Holland-Newly IFS, I would hope they could still provide parts for our suspensions.

You might want to contact Kevin Waite to see if he has any sources/ideas.

What is the shop saying is worn on the control arms?  Have you noticed any handling issues?

Brian, The Neway Customer Service lady's name is JAN. Call her at her direct line number in Michigan @ 231-777-4464. You should climb under your coach and locate on the suspension the Serial Number and the Parts List Number the are located on a metal plate right in the middle of the suspension facing to the front of coach.

I've talked with her a couple of times this week and received the specific part numbers I needed. She can also give you the dealers that represent Neway.

Is it something that can be fabricated? We had a front u-bracket break and Tampa Spring in Tampa FL tried to obtain the part from CC with no luck. They then said they could fabricate a better one and recommended we replace both. They fabricated it onsite for a reasonable price.  This shop specializes in heavy duty frame and axle work for buses, ambulances, fire trucks, etc. They have locations in Tampa, Ocala, Lakeland and Bradenton FL.  It's the only place we take our coach for shocks, air bags, springs, bushings, etc.

I wanted to let the group know that it appears that we've resolved my front end parts issue. For a week or so, it looked like we would have to salvage the coach. It needed upper control arms for the New IFS front suspension. Country Coach told my local Cummins service shop that the parts were no longer available.

At that point, I put a HELP message on the board here and Mike came to the rescue with the contact name and number. The local Cummins RV service manager contacted Jan at Neway; she made it all happen. It took 3 weeks, but she found the parts to rebuild the current suspension arms. A local big truck front end shop was able to rebuild the suspension arms and the coach aligned without problem. Now the rest of the annual service is being completed and it appears we'll be able to head south pretty much on schedule. I didn't want to say anything until it was pretty much a sure thing; I think we're at that point.

The lessons learned are: 1) don't take CC's word on parts availability; and 2) if you've got an early 2000s coach with a Neway IFS, be prepared for the possibility of not being able to get parts.

Thx to everyone, particularly Mike.

I would suggest going to Kaiser Brake and Alignment in Eugene Oregon. By the way, they are the best front end company for Country Coach anywhere.

I don't know what front end they put on 2000 Magnas; CC should be able to tell you.
