Pioneer AVIC-N1 Replacement

Hi All,

I feel like I should introduce myself, I have been following the group for about a year, gaining a lot of insight into life as a Country Coach owner - thank you all. In August my wife and I purchased a 2005 Country Coach Magna 630 Matisse with a CAT C13 from the 2nd owner. We absolutely love this coach, while being very aware that the learning curve is pretty steep - we are such novices. Everything that happens requires us to get out the manual or look up something on the internet - whew boy!!! We are both from the SF East Bay Area and we are currently living in the San Diego area. Already we've discovered that spending more time in the coach is desirable and we're excited that we've met wonderful people everywhere we've been.

We are now taking care of updating some of the parts and pieces, some necessary and some by desire to make it ours. The Pioneer AVIC N1 radio/nav/camera display has stopped working and we are researching replacements. We'd like to have navigation, side and rear cameras, bluetooth to our cell phones, and of course good music. Are there any recommendations you could pass on to us?

Thank you,
Mike

For starters consider which type of phone you use - iPhone or Android. Also do you want to be hostage to a GPS product and update fees.

our camera stopped working and we read that it was probably loose wires under the dash where it's plugged int. Sure enough, we giggled the wires and it started working again.  We have one wire that is the culprit and we have identified it. We will have it repaired shortly.

For navigation we use CoPilot app on our iPhone.

We are an iPhone household and I use Apple's maps daily, but for the RV and traveling I would prefer to have local data on the device, you never know when you will not have cellphone data coverage. I do have a Garmin that is easy to take off my motorcycle and we have a little dash stand for it...

And the problem with the unit seems to be internal, reliable power is available at the unit...

Thanks for helping me look into this...

It's ironic that what you're looking at we added a year ago to our 2001 Allure. We chose the Pioneer Avix 5000 for our head unit/Navigation. One of the reasons was because they were to add Carplay to mimic my Iphone. I love that it is Bluetooth and takes my USB for my music. My wife and I do all the hookups for our tow vehicle using our phones with the sound coming over the coach speakers. While the nav works fine, I'm a real fan of my wife using Waze app on our Ipad to give us a route that gets us around traffic and accidents. The trip last weekend saved us 45 minutes by getting us off the freeway before traffic slowed down when an accident shut down the freeway. I still like the pioneer nav because it's so easy to read the eta and miles.  I find because of the use of my ipad w/Waze I could have saved several hundred dollars and skipped the nav.
The backup camera is a 7" from camping world that replaced the backup camera and added side cameras. The monitor can be set to alternate between each camera, leave it set for one camera, and it always goes to the side camera when the turn signal is turned on. It works fine and I left the CC camera in place rather than to hide the holes from it.

Tickling them or just telling them a joke? :D
