Battery Charging

I'm having problems with my engine battery going low. With the house batteries charged up, is there not supposed to be an echo charger that charges the engine battery even when the house batteries are full????
When plugged in to shore power or running the generator, is the engine battery being charged???

or

Do I have to hook up a seperate 10/20 amp charger to the engine battery direct????

Hi Ron,

On my '98 Intrigue I had to add the Echo Charger, it did not have one. On your newer '01 you may or may not have one. If you do have one, it should be in the compartment with your inverter. If it is there, it probably has a blown 20A. fuse. I was not impressed with the in-line fuse that came with the charger and changed it. If your coach does not have the charger, it is fairly simple to add.

Are you sure your '01 Intrigue has the Echo Charger??? If it does, make sure the fuse is good and the fuse holder is sound. If you have one, it should be in the compartment with your inverter and an LED should be lit.(amber, red or green) If your alternator output appears low, is this when you have just left from being parked for a length of time?? If so, your voltage is probably down because of the chassis battery being charged along with your house batteries. Once these batteries are charged, your voltage should come up. Are you reading the voltage off the analog gauge on the dashboard?? If so, check your voltage with a quality volt meter to verify.
