Transmission gearshift push button pad

The transmission gearshift push buttons do not seem to be making good contact. I must depress the buttons with heavy pressure to get gear change action. It has been sluggish for some time but, now it is very difficult. Should I open the switch and try spraying with electrical contact cleaner or do I simply need to order a new switch? Daron, I have a '96 Intrigue for sale that will solve that problem. Will be at FMCA rally in Indio fairgrounds this week. Jim Veen. 10299 Intrigue 36 ft.

Remove old push button keypad, park new coach under keypad, reinstall.
I also have a 98 Allure and the buttons are getting slower to respond. Sometimes a soft touch does it sometimes a firm push is required. It always shifts but not any longer a simple process.
I also have the 8.3 (no slides) Daron what do you think about the torque these things make? Feels like I can keep up with anybody at a stop light, I don't try but in my head watch out!

Thanks for the advice. I might have to try that but, not today.
Re. torque: My 98 tows my Chev Malibu Maxx and does everything I want it to do. I drive mostly on the West Coast. Plenty of git-go for me.
Without the Chev it is like a jack rabbit when I am drag racing trucks.
