Ready to flush the Thetford Aria Deluxe II - OUT OF OUR COACH:)!

Please share what you may have used to replace the 'Prepare to DIVE!' - 'BLOW ALL BALLAST!'. At least that is what our Thetford Aria Delux II toilet sounds like while flushing. So loud, we can wake each other up over night if we flush...

But, again, now the 4th time in 6 years, not holding water in the bowl. The flapper blade and gasket combo's have been properly maintained and cleaned and even then - replaced three times already. But also now not getting much water flow at all. We have to use a bottle of water for flushing (GLAD THE FLAPPER AT LEAST OPENS TO ALLOW IT TO DROP BELOW!!!).

I'm not going to spend more money on kits to keep repairing a toilet that we don't really like:)!

What recommendations do you have for a direct replacement? Non electric, I really want this to be a KISS approach this time around. We also like Higher Profile Thrones, vs the lower units I've seen in some coaches. China, and not fussy on foot or lever activated. And want to do this only once, and this coach is going to be with us another 10 years, well - that is what we're saying:)! So not overly concerned on paying a bit more for a throne we can be proud of:)!!!!!

TIA for any recommendations, and sources too, best to all,

Smitty

we bought the Aria Classic high profile toilet and it fit. Floor lever in front of toilet. Much better than the electric model but beware. When we received it, the seat was cracked and it took an act of Congress (which doesn't happen often) to get them to send another lid assembly. Then we had it barely over the warranty period and the flush lever assembly broke and we had to pay to have it repaired! Thetford is a terrible company to work with. Wish we had another company to deal with. I thought about writing to the company but figured it didn't matter. Just Google Thetford toilet problems and you get a bunch of responses. We have had it fixed for over 6 months and it's working fine. Just be careful and not let the flush lever release quickly. So far we're "good to go" LOL!! couldn't resist!! PS. we thought about Sealand but they wouldn't fix the existing plumbing.

Hi Greg, I had basically the same problem with my Aria, and when I took it apart to change the seal I found six screws that hold the slide mechanism in place were just about completely unscrewed (see attached pic). I put in the new seal tightened the six screws and it was like a new toilet. Hardly any noise and definitely no loud clunking. You can reach the screws with the toilet in place and tighten them with a #2 Phillips screw driver. (Hope the attachment is readable)

Thanks all:)! I really believe this specific unit had a defect from the start. Maybe the porcelain rim where the flapper seal connects is not perfectly flat.

First owners receipt indicated a repair seal by Holland Motor Homes the third year he had the coach. We replaced it again at the time of our purchase. Once more about 3 years years ago, and again last by Oregon Motor Coach at the end of 2014.

Have never liked the noise. And note, Vern at Oregon Motor Coach walked me thru the repair as he did it on his bench. Pretty straight forward. And, he firmed up all connections including the 6 screws, which he said were not loose, but that he always checked them. Even as he put it back in and we were testing it in the coach, he commented 'Some are louder then others. Sometimes changing out the Gear and Clutch assembly would help, and other times it seemed to make it worse:)!

Wife would prefer an arm lever flusher, vs foot pedal, for ease of cleaning. And she is concerned she'd occasionally trip up on the lever while in the Water Closet Room:)!

I'll check out some of the other brands. Sealand(?) is one that I think I recall was popular for some of the Monaco gang that changed theirs over to a different throne.

Best,

Put a dometic 320 in ours to replace the original Sealand toliet. It's ceramic with 360 degree flush. Its tall, very close to a normal toliet in height. It has a replaceable water valve on the side making easy to replace it you have any issues down the road. It's been close to two years now since I installed it, no issues so far.
