Engine access

Yahoo Message Number: 105207
I have a 2006 Intrigue 530 with a 525 hp Cat engine. I'm going in to have a valve lash done and am curious how the engine access panel is held down. Does it have velcro or screws holding it.

Thanks for your help.

Hey Dennis, we have an 07 Intrigue with the same engine setup so I'm assuming the assess is the same as ours. In our 40 footer we do the following:

Slides are out;

Remove the closet slider doors, in ours one edge of the cover is under the doors, so the door glider on the floor needs to some off; Locate the edges of the top cover, which is rug on wood, it's Velcroed down with large pieces; use a pry bar in the seams to get it up as it will be held tight down; Unbolt the final cover;

You're in. Will take you 30-60 minutes to do that. I suggest you do it to save on labor charge, and to get familiar with the process.

While you're in there check the hydraulic hose connection to the engine fan. Confirm that it's tight, if it gets loose all 12 qts. of ATF will spray out and you're dead in the water (been there done that).
