Exterior maintenance

I am preparing to redo all the caulking on rv exterior. I have heard of a product called Acry-maxx or Acry-sol to clean the areas prior to applying the new caulk. Has anyone used this product or know where I can get it? Or what other products should I consider? Also considering sealing the fiberglass roof. Anyone have suggestions of what product to use? Would it make any sense to use eternabond tape around perimeter of roof where it meets up with end caps to seal and prevent water leakage? Suggestions are very much appreciated!

We use a commercial roofing product made by Inland Coatings. Easy to use, remove old, clean with alcohol, (isopropyl not whiskey!) and apply. We tape out the area's with masking tape to improve looks. Yes roof tape (Eternabond is just a brand name, very common in the roofing industry by many different manufactures) is never a bad idea, cap seams can be issue areas and if flexing much, tape solves that gap. We'd put the tape down and then coat over with the mastic.

As for the roof, I highly recommend Nyalic Nyalic® Official Site - Clear Coat Solutions.

One of the best treatments I've seen for the fiberglass roof. Again easy to apply, clean, dry and apply with a roller. Best to mask off perimeter edges...

Thank you for the info! I'm easily confused. You mentioned 2 different roofing products (commercial product by inland coating and the other being nyalic). Are these 2 separate applications put on the fiberglass roof? As for caulking, I was told to use regular 100% acrylic silicone for all the trim work, around windows, etc. on the exterior sides and front/back of coach.

The Inland is the mastic that seal's everything up. The Nyalic is a clear protective coating that's put on after all the sealing is done. Kind of like clear coat over paint..

For the sides we only use SikaFlex 295UV. It's the only adhesive/sealant I'm aware of that has UV protection. I just power washed my personal coach last night and it's been 6-7 years since it was last fully re-sealed and all the sealant looks good still. Yes there are a couple areas of concern that I'll address this weekend, but no big deal... Easy pezy! IF it was a silicone product I'd be too nervous to use the power washer, even being a low psi one it could still blow off the sealant in many areas.

Got it! Perfect! I will also use the sikaflex but looks like the old stuff is silicone so I will need to remove all the old caulking first then I assume go over the areas with alcohol before applying the sikaflex. Thanks for the advice.

Yes strip off the old GENTLY, (patience is key, you don't want to chip or scar the paint) we then mask out with tape, scuff with scotchbrite, clean with alcohol, make sure its evaporated then apply. Remove tape while tacky. Key is for the edges to be blunt not feathered
