Shocks, Airbags

We have an 05 CC and was wondering when one should change the shocks? Have just under 50k miles. Also, is there anything maintenance wise one can do as far as checking the condition of the air bags?

Suggested air bag replacement is at 10 years of service, fronts will have the most cracks and passenger front will be the worst. If your running Koni shocks your good for 100 K.

Is the check for the air bags "cracks"? Do you check them when inflated?

Just a second opinion on the shocks. We had the original Koni's on our 07 Inspire and they were worthless at 40k miles. Constant porpoising and serious bottoming out! Problem solved with a set of Road King shocks. Expensive, yes. But I have no regrets as they are still working great after another 40k miles, a trip to Alaska and another to the Florida Keys, all from So. Cal.

Hi,

I would be interested to know where that 10 year statement about air bags came from. I can find no such published statement from an air bag maker.

We have a 97 with orginal firestone airbags. They hold air great no cracks and don't lose pressure at all even after 120000 miles and 19 years. We were told by a truck service station the same thing after we bought it (need to replace the airbags) untill we inspected them and they were perfectly fine. I don't know about the quality of the airbags on newer coaches though.

Its probably about time. Even though mine showed no sign of leaking, when examined they were very soft even at the highest setting. TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

Ken,

I found that my original Koni SP1 shocks were simply not robust enough to keep my coach from porpoising and bottoming out even when set to maximum dampening.
I replaced them with Koni SP3 shocks. They have made a huge difference in correcting both of these issues.
