Check Transmission

Traveling I-40 from Nashville to Memphis in our CC Tribute 260, we stopped for lunch. Back on the road, I noticed on my dash that the "Check Transmission" light was ON....Stopping at the next exit, I checked the fluid (Full & Clean & no Smell). After checking, I called Clark Power in Memphis, the closest Allison 3000 dealer. The tech helped me read the trouble code and the indication was "Torque Converter"....Then the tech advised me to shut down the engine and re-start. The "Check Trans" was gone. Now the tech tells me that maybe the problem was a stuck valve or a wiring issue. Anyway, while continuing on to Memphis, it has not happened again. Does anyone have any advice? The tech at Clark Power says "if it is not broken, it may not be possible to find the cause." Thanks.

David..........The tech is most likely correct. Unless it happens repeatedly, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

That was the first sign I had that announced the radiator had failed and was allowing engine coolant to enter the transmission coolant. Temp gauges of the engine and transmission were normal. The second time it happened .I noticed the transmission fluid on the did stick wasn't a dark cherry red any more. It wasn't until the the pan was pulled on the transmission that the issue was confirmed. Placing a pressure tester on the engine radiator showed no leaks. I don't mean to scare you but that's what happened to us. TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

I had similar problem with random codes and transmission light on. The culprit was a loose connection on the communication link to the transmission computer. Mine is in the bay under the drivers.
