Thetford Aria Deluxe toilet replacement

I was at Camping World because my Thetford toilet had no power. They said it needed to be replaced. They recommended a gravity toilet. They said that electric toilets are unreliable. What is the best recommendations on this subject? Replace with a same 19771 model or go to a less toilet. And positions on this? Thank you in advance.

we replaced our electric Thetford toilet with a pedal one. Our electric one would start flushing by itself and fill up the bowl. We were concerned about it flooding the coach.

We replaced it with the Aria Classic high profile in bone.

In our opinion all Thetford products are crappy (no pun intended!) and their customer service after the sale is no better.

When we received the toilet the seat was cracked. It took an act of Congress (well maybe not) but it took several weeks for them to send another seat. They wanted pictures. The pictures wouldn't show the break. I told them we would send back the seat. They finally gave in and shipped a new seat.

Then we had the Aria Classic for 6 months and the flush mechanism broke. There is a spring in the mechanism that is poorly designed. Of course it was out of warranty by then and we had to pay for Alliance Coach in Wildwood FL to remove the toilet and replace the mechanism.

If we had another choice we would not buy Thetford. I did research SeaLand toilets but they are much more expensive and didn't have any better reviews than Thetford. Also it didn't match up with our old Thetford.

The only advantage we saw in the manual flush model is that it won't start flushing by itself when we're gone.

PS... Did you try unplugging the wires, cleaning them and replugging them in? There is also a fuse somewhere in the back that can go bad. We replaced the fuse and it worked again. Also the water pump can go bad and can be replaced.

There are lots of posts for troubleshooting if you "Google" Thetford" toilet not flusing.

Can't see why "... no power" to the toilet, requires a replacement. Fix the power source and it should work? IMO

I have 2 Thetford Tecma toilets and love them!! If there is no power going to the controller located in the back of the toilet, find the source and repair it. If there is power, more than likely the controller is the problem. A simple "plug in" installation. I replaced one for the cost of $240.00 awhile back.

My Aria electric toilet has an in-line 1 amp fuse located behind the toilet inside a yellow rubber housing that pulls apart to acces te glass-barrel type fuse.

Yes I checked the in line fuse. It seems like it just a coincidence but it stopped working when the mechanic took the battery cables off to pull the starter. I don't know if there is a reset somewhere or not.

If you have power at downstream of the 1 amp fuse, it could be the electronic controller, which is a replaceable part from Thetford. You could call Thetford tech desk 800 521 3032. There is also a manual:

Interesting that the manual says the 1 amp fuse can me replaced with a 4 amp Slow Blow... It also says to kill power to unit to reset the controller, but I guess you have already done that.

Disconnecting battery for starter should not affect the house components, including toilet, unless something is miswired.

CC owners. Thanks for all the suggestions. It was finally tracked down to a hard to see circuit breaker that had tripped. It is on the top of the battery compartment and is black like the top so was not very visible. Once reset all is well. What grips me is how Camping World charged me $129 and told me that the toilet was no good and to replace it with a gravity flush. Never again will I trust Crapping World to any repair.
