Firestone vs Goodyear air bags?

I very recently had my front air bags changed. The originals were Goodyears and they were replaced with the cross cross-referenced Firestones. The supplier said it should make no difference. I find that the firestone's are way stiffer, particularly over sharp transitions like railroad tracks and bridges. In fact I had a few bangs at highway speed that I never had before. The ride height was adjusted to the level it was at with the good years. Anyone have any experience in this area? Rich 2002 Magna

That's very interesting I just bought a Honda Civic with Firestone tires for my grandson and thought how terribly rough riding the Firestone tires were. I've also had troubles with Goodyear tires I have found that the Mets won are by far and away the best riding tire for my coach so I'm wondering if they make a boot for your coach

The brand of air bag cannot affect the ride. They are just a heavy duty balloon that hold the coach up off the suspension.

I suspect something is wrong with the ride height setting or the wrong bags were installed.

Airbags are a little like tires and old tennis shoes they get softer with time, going from ready to be replaced bags to new maybe the difference.

Sorry, I'm sure it does look kind of weird. My phones autocorrect changes things around. I could tell you probably have an iPhone as your text comes through on my phone on a sidebar small text. To clarify my response, I was only suggesting that there might be another manufacturer other than Firestone for your boot, and I've had extremely good luck with Mitchelin tires on my Coach and that they might make a boot.

I was appalled when I saw this last summer, but someone said it was OK. The bags are 11 years old.

While you should never let them go this long (I'm speaking from experience) you're much better off replacing them before they reach this point and you're stuck, but a bit of surficial cracking doesn't mean much. Very interesting, Rich, and good to have more opinions. I don't see any cracking in this air bag. Looks like the rubber is sloughing off and I wonder if the streaking is underlying cord?

I should have pointed out to Mikee that my coach was in the high position when I took the pics, so the bag was at maximum inflation. That would make the cracks look worse, but a crack is still a crack.

Also, I wonder if it is possible to change the bags out w/o disturbing the ride height?

When the coach is fully raised is the best time t check the air bags. You can see the entire bag when it is fully inflated.

And yes you can change the air bag without disturbing the ride height. Gain access to the air bag, sometimes you have to remove a tire. Lift the coach slightly off the suspension. Let all the suspension air out and remove and replace the bag.
