Oshkosh air show information needed

Anne and I plan on RVing to the Oshkosh show this year. Have never been to Wisconsin or Oshkosh. Can anyone offer and good advice. Planned on staying in the state for about 30 days, 7 days at the airshow. I see they offer electric hookups on the airport grounds, but they want us to pay from day of booking thru JUly 31th. Seems like a strange way of doing it. Am I reading the web site correct? Any insite "help" information would be a big help. I have joined EAA. THanks

Ive been to OSH twice and camped both times. First in a tent - hottest most miserable weekend of my life. Our 3 kids were 10, 7 and 3. I'm amazed that my wife and I are still married after that one! Went back about 4 years later in a 40ft MH - much better experience. We dry camped. That's all they had at the time and it was fine. I would get reservations asap. Bring little handheld radios or something to keep track of everyone. its like the worlds biggest plane carnival. Once OSH starts everyone pretty much stays for most of the show, so my guess is that they make you pay whether or not you will be there just to increase revenue. Being a member of EAA helps in many ways. Osh Kosh, The Dells, South Western WI (House on the Rock, Taliesen - Frank Lloyd Wright's Home), Northern WI (Minocquoa), Door County - you will easily spend 30 days and still not have seen everything. Beautiful State. We are from IA and have spent lots of time in WI. You will love it.
