new to CCC

Hi,

I am new to group.

I am looking at a 2004 Intrigue. I am accustomed to gas class A units and this is a new venture into a full time rig.
The unit has 106,000 miles on it, 525 Cat. TVs have been updated, frig is original RV style. It has aqua-hot system. What are the expensive repair items that can come up with those miles on it? Tires have 20k on them, I am assuming the cat and allison will run longer than I will. Any particular things I need to look for? Its an amazing looking rig, the quality is about 10 levels above any class A gasser I have owned.

Tires age out in 7 years, batteries 6x, misc chassis fluids, filters, PTO wet kit, check radiator, maybe inverters and fridge. You can drop $15-20K in a heartbeat! It's worth it, have fun.

Mine is quiet as a tomb, but I have spent countless hours solving the bangs, squeaks and rattles one at a time... Those things drive me crazy!

Country Coaches are wonderful rigs with very high quality. We have been traveling in ours for about seven weeks now on our long summer trip. We are at the Winnebago Grand National Rally with about 12 other CC coaches and 1,000 Winnebagos in IA. Winnebago now owns Country Coach and is going to build motorhomes in the Country Coach factory in Junction City starting soon.

The best advice I can give you after seven years of owning our coach and 45,000 miles we have put on is that very little on the coach actually wears out from age or use. When built originally they used the best materials that could be found. So here it is - Do not let people work on your coach that don't know what they are doing. Make sure you get skilled people to do the job. Country Coach made 12,000 rigs and it is not impossible to find skilled repair people. We have had a lot of our repair work done in Junction City where these motorhomes were built. We have used the CC factory and Kevin Waite for repairs there and they both did very good work. Our back slide stopped working while on this trip. HWH who made the slide mechanism is in Moscow IA and since I was in the mid west I made an appt for the repair. They had it diagnosed and fixed in three hours. Very small problem and the cost was $108.00. My very biggest problem with this coach is when I proactively told a local RV service company (a big outfit not small place) to change the fluid on our Allison transmission and do the regular service. Those idiots called me two days later to tell me they had broke our transmission and we needed a new one. Fortunately I did not have to pay for the replacement.

Few rigs are built to the standards of a CC Intrigue. If you like it, buy it, you won't be sorry. We are next to a one year old high end Winnebago here at the rally and my 14 year old exterior paint looks better than their 1 year old paint. But Winnebago puts on a very high quality rally. And they now are going to be able to offer you midwest factory service for your Country Coach. We have REALLY been welcomed here at this rally by many many people so far. We have had numerous people go out of their way to welcome us and tell us that new rigs are going to come rolling out of the Junction City factory soon. Just my opinion, but seems like a bunch of very nice people at Winnebago and that means if you buy that Country Coach you will be able to get good service for it for a very long time.

If you really want to hear difference drive a Magna and an Allure from the same year. Also drive a 34' coach and then drive a 42' or 45' coach, what noise. Single front window coaches are also quieter than split window coaches the 05 Intrigue the exception. Also get rid of the Toyo tires and look for tires with Highway tread, Michelins will make a big difference. TWI 2004 Intrigue 11731

I have an 07 Allure 42 foot with Michelin Tires. Coach is quiet no rattles no squeaks about all I can expect. We Carry On conversations at normal voice levelsI. Had Goodyear from the factory when I bought the coach and by the way also on my American tradition as well! Goodyear are garbage and loud as well as Toyo. Michelin have had issues with sidewall cracking at about 6 years but supposedly have resolved that issue I would suggest keeping them covered whenever you're stopped to keep the sun off of them

Very well said Bob. Search out the people that can work on these coaches. Most RV shops cannot. They will just hurt the coach. Doing much of the work yourself is good to because you care. It's not rocket science, just take your time, do many of the jobs. I just shy away from big heavy things. This forum has taught me much, the members have helped me immensely. You will be very happy with a Country Coach.

You've got me wondering, our 2005 40' Magna is 11 months new to us and we are amazed at how quiet it is going down the road - almost whisper quiet. I have to pay attention to be aware of the engine revs. What kind of noise or noises are you referring to?

I will also say I am impressed with the quality of this coach. Things are repairable, not throw away.

I am incredibly thankful for this forum everyday, what a great help!

Hope those with more CC knowledge confirm this, but I think the Magna coaches have more sound insulation then say my Allure, or Stan's Inspire.

We have no real complaint with any noise while traveling, except when the angle of the wind in relation to the front door is correct - we get some good wind noise. (Our door must have been either tweaked by the dealer and or previous owner. As we can see where the full door assembly was removed, and the metal angle strips that go around the outside casing were re-welded. They were not even properly prepped or painted to match, just bare metal. Knew this when I bought the coach, minus the noise when the wind hit's it just right. Have had many attempted 'improvement repairs' by myself, and by RV dealers and prepare facilities. The best it's ever been, is safer OMC told me to avert my eyes, as they had two big buys and a rubber protected 4x4 in play - twisting and bending the door. They removed all of the added weather stripping I had tried, and got the door pretty dang flush with the frame. I'd say a 65-75% improvement.) But of course, a damaged tweaked door, is not the norm for CC and thus I don't consider it as far as comparing noise in the coach to others ones I've owned or driven.

One other thing I'll comment on about my Allure, is that I blew it when the generator was dropped (04 Allure did not have a sliding generator, to further distinguish as being a model below the Intrigue/Magna's.) I should have had Dynamat added to the sheet metal around the generator, especially on the top and sides, as I feel it would have reduced the noise levels in the coach. Not really all that bad, but, I feel I blew a chance to have improved the sound deadening of the generator.

While I understand that the Affinity flush mounted windows sometimes had problems(?), I suspect they also cut down on any wind noise while traveling.

Will follow this thread to see what others comment about too, and their tips:)!

I have found after driving several slant front coaches compared to the flat front bus that there is more wind noise around the door area due to the angle door design and not being able to incorporate hinges in the upper section of the door like the straight design. But....they're all beautiful coaches!! I loved my 01 Intrigue and my 09 Allure!! You can't go wrong with them!!

When I replaced front tv i coated the inside of front cap with spray foam it made the coach wisper quiet and also reduced the temp up front.

yes had to do it in stages spray an area then let it harden then another when doing the top part had to make forms out of cardboard to hold the foam till it hardened if you are interested can give you some tips which will make it easier than my first attempt
